Early Access Review
I am a big fan of the Mount and Blade series. I completely understand that it has been out for 2 days and is in very early access but here is my take thus far.

The base game is still enjoyable and you can lose countless hours in the game play doing quests etc. But waiting 8 years for the follow up from warband, has it changed enough to be worth the full price of $70 AUD?

Combat:
The combat has changed slightly with directional attacks and blocks which i felt warband lacked but it still seems quite slow and not yet right for the game, but is definitely a step in the right direction. You feel much less impactful in battles in the grand scale of things and are basically a footman in someone else's battles a majority of the time. Its essentially the same as warband in my opinion.

Siege:
(Attacking)
The siege mechanics have come a long way and defending/ attacking a strong hold is super impressive for the first time but after that it become very monotomous, in the sense that you can build a ram, siege towers, catapults and uses ladders to get inside the castle, but the ai are still quite limited in the fact they will just stand at the walls running in circles or even worse standing in groups of hundreds at the wall just takeing damage while not defending themselves as they are being hailed with arrows.

(Defending)
When defending against a siege there feels very little that you can do to stop the rams and towers coming into the stronghold except just wait and accept defeat as they flood over the walls when the ai doesnt push away thee ladders or focus down the obvious threats.

Overall after the game play and trying to experience most of what the game has to offer thus far is lacking and a bit disappointing after the long long wait. I hope they continue to add and change much more before the final release of the game as i dont believe it is worth the full price at the moment and would be better off playing the prior game, Mount and Blade: Warband with some graphic enhancing mods, as it is very much the same experience.

Looking forward to what they have in the full game release.
