An always online live service rhythm game that normally goes for 40usd and weights 80 gigabytes.
For those 80 gigabytes at the start you get a few songs and some basic noteskins and that's about it.

Want to play with orbs or something that isn't bars? grind currency and buy it in the shop once it comes around!
Scrolled for 5 minutes to look for a song that you like and are done playing it? get forcibly sent to the home screen, sit through a 3 second animation and get back to the main song select with all your filters and scroll progress GONE. Have fun finding back that one song!

And the moment they pull the plug on the servers goodbye to all your stuff!
I can't stress enough how bad this premise is compared to literally any other VSRG out there.
Please play anything else instead of giving these greedy companies money!

Amazing game! deserves fully the pricetag.

The gameplay is unique and satisfying and forces you to think in a way you've never had to before and the roguelike elements give it a lot of replayability.
The story is also quite cool and interesting to discover.

Overall an amazing experience that i can definitively reccomend to anyone whose into niche pixelated roguelikes!

I have never loved a game as much as this one.
It definitively shows it's age when it comes to the size of the maps or how noisy certain textures and enviroments are (the Greek one being the worst case of that), but nonetheless this game is capable of providing you with such a thought-provoking, interesting and deeply philosopical experience that you just will not find anywhere else.
I can't but reccomend anybody who has any slight bit of interest in philosophy to play this game and read it's story for it is the best usage of philosophy i've ever seen in a game.

The puzzles too are notible for being thought provoking yet not being unfair. The only ones i've personally found to be poorly conveyed are the tower floor 5 and some sparse levels in the b world 4 - 7 , but aside from those, i can say that solving them feels extremely satisfying and enough of them allow you to have multiple solutions, to the point where you feel like you're solving it in your own unique way rather than following a strict single solution like with many other puzzle games.

i have been playing VSRGs for over a decade now and can safely say this game is really fun.
the charts are up to stepmania stadards while also including some more modern takes to them rendering them a really fun experience, the song selection is the best i've seen in a non-community charted rhythm game, the bumper notes gimmick is acceptable and adds a fresh layer of content for what is otherwise a stale formula and the gameplay itself is great:
no hold note release accuracy, no notelock but with a good antimesh.

the only suggestion i would give the devs is to add someday in the future modifiers like fade-in and fade-out/hidden, rates and also adding arrows and orbs noteskins for those who prefer them over bars

good concept for a rhythm game but lacking in the execution.
the game has no settings as well as no audio offset which is extremely crucial to a rhythm game and while the songs are good the charts not so much. especially in the china level many times the rhythm is completely not followed and the whole section feels rushed. the way some patterns decide to mirror to the opposite side is completely arbitrary and doesn't follow any sound indication in the song itself.
some patterns are also hard to read not due to them being complicated but rather to the lack of colorcoding of the various lanes; you can't tell when you're going to flip upside down, the highlighted lane on which you are currently on is barely visible due to the highlighting color being extremely similar to the original and the animations of the character often lag behind or give off a wrong impression of movement due to the exaggerated bobbing that occurs every time you change directions.
the game also has checkpoints, however it will instantly respawn you as soon as you click a key without any warning meaning that you will often end up wasting your "free hit" at the beginning of the checkpoint.

even the only two gameplay modifiers "no far lanes" and "no near lanes" are busted. they are supposed to be the equivalent of "hidden" and "fade in" from other VSRGs but fail to achieve anything. "no near lanes" aka the game's equivalent to hidden doesn't fade out the note you are currently standing on and fades out incoming lanes at the wrong timings, meaning that when you couple that with the lack of offset calibration and the game's poor readability due to the awful camera angles and lack of color coding it becomes a torture to play with it. as per "no far lanes" it completely misses out on the concept of what "fade in" is supposed to be and just reduces the distance at which new lanes appear to just the first one ahead of you. no fading or any try to make it less of a jumpscare and when you add it to the inability to change the character speed sort of like changing scroll speed in VSRGs you're in for a very poor time.

the tutorial also fails to explain most of the game's mechanics including free hits and how the scoring works.

if the dev were to fix all these issues, the game would be really nice, worth paying for even;
but as of right now in it's current state, i wouldn't reccomed playing it even if it's free.

absolutely stunning game in a genre that is sadly dying out. it's such a breath of fresh air seeing people still putting this much effort and producing games like this in 2024.
i'd honestly put this game in the podium alongside mad father for the best "rpg maker" horror games ever made.
i sincerely can't wait for ch2 to roll out and will gladly accept any pricetag on it

keep up the good work :)

game doesn't do anything new to innovate and the balancing is all over the place.
many of the default weapons suck forcing you to play for at least 8 hours to get anything fun and don't even get me started on the granades.

anyone spawns with TEN of them, they are spammable, break walls, lack any cursor or time to calculate the throw (meaning you have to just get good enough to eyeball those things thus making it even harder for new players to do something) and don't work in situations where you'd actually want them to like reloading a weapon.
