If it was "optional" in the beginning due to server issues, then it can stay optional.

I'm not about to lose my data when Sony inevitably suffers another data breach because they're incompetent.

A great game being ruined by corprorate greed and the unending "LINE MUST GO UP" mentality. Have to show the stockholders we got more PSN accounts, after all.

Arrowhead deserves better. The PLAYERS deserve better. MANAGED DEMOCRACY DESERVES BETTER.

I never imagined I'd find myself becoming emotionally attached to a station wagon, and a group of people you only ever talk to on a radio.

Game is actually worthwhile now, as of the major changes of Patch 13. In-depth skill trees, ability to purchase base model weapons to experiment with, tinkering with weapon perks and blessings to get the desired outcome you want. Could still use some more in the actual attachment customization department (there's a mod for that but according to FatShark it would be "Immeasurably Complex").

Overall though, pretty much all of my concerns have been addressed so I'm comfortable with changing to a positive review.

-- I am keeping my old review below for the sake of transparency --

Fatshark really spent all that time working on Vermintide 2 and then went:

"Hey, what if we just do none of that."

The core gameplay itself is fun, don't get me wrong, it is very satisfying, but the game launched with 3/4 of the Crafting System tagged as "Coming Soon" and literally 4 playable classes versus Vermintide 2 having 15 on launch day.

There is no way to pick a specific mission you want to do unless its currently active on the mission board, and you aren't guaranteed to receive any gear at the end of a mission, only currency and XP. XP, mind, which becomes useless once you hit the max level of 30, because there's no prestige/progression past that level.

Gear is tied to the Armory which refreshes once per hour with fully random offerings every time. I have leveled my Veteran Sharpshooter to 30 and been able to get exactly ONE Power Sword in that entire time. When you unlock new weapons for leveling up, the only way you get to use them is if you get lucky when the shop resets and decides to give you the ability to get one.

There is no "base/blacksmith" versions of weapons to mess around with, just to get a feel for the new things you've unlocked, and even if there was, the Meat Grinder (the firing range) isn't even in the actual Hub, it's behind a loading screen into an entirely different area.

But you know what was working perfectly on launch day? The cash-only cosmetic shop.

It's like Mario Party but with cute animal characters. You'll hate your friends by the end of it, but that's part of the fun!

I can't remember the last time I was enraptured with a story such as this one. Coming from mostly Bethesda titles before this, I was used to the player character being the 'hero' per se. Skyrim, Fallout, etc. You're always the 'big hero' every time but in the Witcher...not so much. The NPC's spit at your feet, call you a freak. You're not the hero, you're not the big exalted warrior riding in to save the day...you're the monster exterminator in way over his head that has to save the world.

Just gonna put this here. Actually uninstalled the game rather than download this latest update. I stuck through all the DLC and everything, but this is too far. So much for "no microtransactions ever" and "shame on us for thinking otherwise"

Yeah. If I could get a refund for everything I would, but I'm too far past the window. Oh well.
