Whoever look at a roguelike and was aversed by the graphics should give Cogmind a try! I am playing now since the first alpha release of Cogmind, never was interested in classic roughlikes at all (except Dwarf Fortress).

Behind the minimalistic ASCII graphics (or the a bit less minimalistic graphic style) is a great game concept with deep gameplay and story. However, Cogmind pushes the ASCII graphics to a new level with a ton of visual candy and effects! The different possible play styles make the game pretty replayable (if you manage to beat the game). Additionally, the game has a ton of different archievements to get. You want every archievement? Learn to play other styles and try to get all the lore in the game. Go to the hard places - and die.

Beside of that, the dev is pretty active in the community, transparently documentating the development process. Additionally, he streams his own runs through the game, motivating players to go new routes (at least he is motivating me).

In summary, Cogmind is a great game, worth a try even for people who do not like the ASCII look. The developer shows exemplary how early acces should look like and I am happy that I supported this awesome game!

Stardew Valley lässt Retro-Feeling aufkommen. Dabei versprüht es dennoch einen einzigartigen Charme, ohne altbacken zu wirken.
Das Spielprinzip ist einfach: man startet mit einem Haus auf einem unbebauten Grundstück und muss dieses zu einer florierenden Farm ausbauen. Dabei stehen dem Spieler neben einer unglaublich großen Vielzahl an Feldfrüchten auch diverse Tiere zur Verfügung. Aufgewertet wird dieses Grundprinzip durch viele weitere Aktivitäten wie Fischen, Sammeln von Artefakten, Erkunden von Höhlen, Familie, Stadtbewohner und viel mehr!
Abgerundet wird die Spielhandlung durch eine nette Rahmenhandlung, welche den Spieler mehrere (Ingame)-Jahre an das Spiel fesseln wird.

Stardew Valley ist ein ganz besonderes Spiel, welches liebevoll gestaltet wurde. Dabei stammen Gameplay, Grafik, musikalische Untermalung von einem einzelnen Programmierer! Auch für die Zukunft kann man von Stardew Valley noch einiges erwarten, wie zum Beispiel Co-Op Multiplayer.

Für mich ist es immer wieder eine Freude Stardew Valley einen Besuch abzustatten!

Update 2020:

Noch immer zieht es mich gelegentlich nach Stardew Valley. Besonders der Multiplayer Modus macht Freude, selbst wenn man das Spiel bereits ausgiebig gespielt hat. Darüber hinaus wurde das Spiel durch mehrere Content-Updates erweitert, was den Wieder-Spielwert erhöht und ich schätze da wird noch weiteres folgen.
