Unfortunately this game wastes a genuinely fascinating premise on a deeply hollow execution. Despite being an indie title, the final product feels incredibly 'corporate' and sterile. It barely pretends to take place in the 1930s. The developers shy away from any of the actual realities of the era, resulting in a modern experience wearing a cheap 1939 costume. By opting for the safest, least offensive design choices at every opportunity, the game sacrifices almost all world-building and player immersion. Furthermore, the narrative suffers from heavily 'millennial-coded' writing/setting, which will likely be highly grating for players looking for an authentic or grounded 1930s atmosphere.
