No jumpscares, no monsters chasing you, just the nostalgia trip of me using Windows 98 when I was a child. Some people would find this game dull, but this is how I like the pure essence of the backrooms.

I wished the levels had generated rooms like it had originally. But overall, this is a good backrooms game!

Ever since I discovered point & click games when I was a child, Rusty lake never disappoints. Or it's just my tinted nostalgia rose glasses speaking for me. Can't wait for the full release.

Since this is an Early Access game (and the developers have the determination to push towards 1.0 release), I hope they expand more into the gameplay since at the moment I write this review, it feels kinda repetitive? I could say the same with Patapon's formula but it had something different that gives variety into the gameplay? I can't put it into words just yet... My bad... I know Ratatan is trying to be it's own thing compared to Patapon, but for a Roguelike, I expect my runs to be more unique.

Another thing I may want to add, I wish they make the stages (or future ones) with contrasting backgrounds since it's kinda hard to focus on reading the text and following the rhythm while focusing on the enemy's army and bosses with all that color noise in the battlefield.

Overall, I'm excited to see the potential of this game and the future updates that the developers are preparing!

I wished they kept the difficulty from MV 1 into the latest sequels. But I guess the developers wanted to keep the levels accessible and easy for everyone. Overall, I stayed because I like the aesthetics, simplistic yet abstract art, and music by itself.

12/6/2025 - Update review after the Garden of Life free DLC: Ustwo Games never disappoints on the visuals. The last memory puzzle was a delight to play by how difficult was to solve it. I would love to see more challenging puzzles like that one if whether or not they make MV4!
