Solid mechanical basis undermined by ignoring the UI/Aesthetic. AI Art in particular sticks out to me. I'd love to put more time into the game but one of the things I loved about 1 was that the art was simple, but evocative. When I'm getting a game to play solo I'm looking for something that looks and feels interesting. Rebellion's design made me imagine things around the game rather than just focusing on the mechanics. All I feel in Sins 2 is mechanics.

At best I would describe it as competent but soulless, which hurts for a series I dumped hundreds of hours into because it had soul.

Very rich in style and gameplay. I don't get sucked into games to the point where I have trouble putting it back down any more, but this is one of the ones that does it for me. Figuring out combos and making a run work is an engaging little puzzle.

The aesthetics are what I'd consider to be the signature of the Hyperspace Anthology, and do quite a bit for me. Fuzzy on the edges but clearly defined and easy to read once you take a few minutes to read them. I'm particularly fond of the style of End-Tech ships.

The music is also really good I could listen to the stuff all day (and have a few times in play sessions already)

Early Access Review
This is everything I wanted They Are Billions to be. The gameplay is smooth and combines my favorite bits of base building and easy unit macro (no spellcasting aside from the Hero Unit). The setting is kinda sparse but tickles me in a good way. I'm partial to the soundscape although it could use some improvement.

My only worry with the game was the fact that it's early access, but progress in development is consistent. Given that it's being sold for 12 dollars it's a fairly easy buy if you're a fan of the genre. I've seen worse RTSes sold for much more over the past year.

Early Access Review
Arcen produces innovative, interesting games, and HoTM is no exception. The blending of genres is uniquely engaging, the developer is incredibly open to feedback, and as an early access release, the game is very well polished.

It's filled with soul and I love it.

One of the best stories I've ever experienced. I ended up playing all of it in one sitting, during which I did not stop to eat, sleep, or otherwise engage with the real world. During this play through, a little less than halfway through the game, I joked that it was reminding me of End of Evangelion. Then it picked up *more*.
It's stylistic, rich with themes and ideas, and overall an incredible experience.

This game, and the entire series, is a excellent mix of tower defense and more traditional strategy. Fighting a endless amount of evil goo has never been so engaging.
