Nice, chill exploration game with a lot of heart. It's got a unique art style and an interesting world. It's very worth a play!

TL;DR: meh.

The graphical improvements are marginal at best. The volumetric lighting is the biggest improvement, making snowstorms look pretty nice. The screen-space reflections are another noticable improvement - you can sometimes see them faintly on bookshelves.

Other than that, there's not much in the way of graphical improvements. There's some Fresnel noticable on the snow, but the snow doesn't really seem to reflect anything so it just looks like it's lit strangely. The AO is too dark, the bloom too strong, the draw distance still kinda low (or at least lower than I'd like...).

This game doesn't offer much over vanilla Skyrim. It's Skyrim with a couple small graphical improvements. If you're just now buying Skyrim this game is probably what you want, but eh.

Early Access Review
This game is pretty awesome. You fly a rocket and shoot at other rockets. It has a great soundtrack, the announcer is very well voiced, the colors used are amazing, and everything works very smoothly with few problems. However, the game is all but unplayable.

You see, the rockets all leave trails behind themselves - trails that don't dissappear. The screen quickly fills up with color, so you easily lose track of your rocket. Even worse, the rockets and all projectiles are rather small, so they would be difficult to see without color trails clogging up the screen.

I want to like this game. The gameplay seems good, the music is awesome, the game looks great - but I can't. the rockets' color trails and small projectile size make the game all but unplayable.

I'm going to start off this review by saying that Transistor has an amazing world. I love it. The colors, the shapes, the Process, the computer lingo, the voice acting... Everything about this game's visuals, audio, and gameplay is absolutely top-notch. If you're the sort of person who likes games with incredible locations, buy this game.

However, there is a problem: the story. Or maybe it's just the way the story is conveyed. See, you play as a singer who has lost her voice. You're guided by a talking sword called the Transistor. Thing is, the Transistor doesn't state your goals very clearly, and provides little to no explination as to why you do the things you do. It feels as if the Transistor was on a mission of some sort, and you just happened to step into it and get in the car, there's no time to explain.

So if you like settings which blur the line between the online and outside worlds, buy this game. If you like interesting, strategic gameplay, buy this game. If you like beautiful, well-thought out worlds, buy this game.

If, however, you want the game to make any effort to tell you about the world, or what's happening in it, or why you're doing anything at all in it, don't buy this game.

6/10. The setting is amazing, but I didn't have any clue what was happening until the very end, and not in a good way.
