Its not a finished game. There are tons of POIs and places that are unfinished scattered across the map, and the audio at times when trying to follow the story sounds choppy and feels like it was cut in last minute. The gameplay is nice, until you do any mission or base defense. It doesn't work 9/10 times you can kill the enemies in the wave way before they get close to the target yet the target still takes significant damage for no other reason.

After playing for ~44 hours, and enjoying the game especially during its development when the team cared, it was fun. Now its the leftover slop after the used focus groups and "data" to determine they were done with this and move on.

End-game content, or equipment that is better than the rest of the game's content is locked behind a DLC that is priced around the same as the base game. I got this in Early-Access, there have been several updates. In that, I lost all my progress and my playtime got reset? Either way, returning to the game I found I can't obtain certain tiers of equipment without buying into a DLC. This is disgusting, and I won't support this. I can say this because I care about myself, and this is my review. Not yours, so take it as you would any other opinion.

Where Winds Meet is a beautiful game with solid mechanics and a promising start, but it is heavily undermined by aggressive monetization and exploitative RNG systems.

For free-to-play players, the RNG is punishing to the point of absurdity. Grinding in-game currencies to obtain a single cosmetic through draws requires treating the game like a second job—and even then, success isn’t guaranteed. Many of the better-looking cosmetics are time-limited, meaning that even if you grind consistently, you can still come up short when the timer expires.

The game constantly pushes monetization. Questionnaires are sent out asking for feedback, yet the RNG issues are routinely glossed over. Near every RNG-related system, you’re met with mobile-style ads encouraging you to spend money. The message is clear: pay, or fall behind.

I started playing to enjoy the game with friends, not to engage with a cash grab. I won’t invest money into a system that doesn’t respect my time, and I won’t treat a game like a job—especially when the rewards are functionally out of reach. While the world is visually stunning and the core mechanics feel good, the story also loses focus after a strong start.

After countless hours and hundreds of appearance coupons—amounting to nothing unless you have thousands—the progression simply stops feeling meaningful. This model may work for some players, but for me, the monetization overshadows everything the game does right.

Kept getting shot through the walls by the boss. Nowhere to get more healing items, sometimes the runs don't give you any abilities thus, you must try making it through with just a pew pew. Needs work.

Loot Crate Gambling for some Paid Cosmetics, while the notion was you shouldn't get redundant items. You do, 50$ USD rolled I believe 10 times, and got 8 of the same item. Out of the ten "rolls" nothing new.

Several hours into my save, and anytime I do a rest at camp, its game over. Did some searching on the internet, and apparently if someone called Gale is dead or goes without a scripted consuming of an item, its game over. So yeah, screw this game. While it was good while it lasted, this is trash. I've lost my save, I've uninstalled it, and I won't be supporting this developer's games ever again. They earned my ire.

Recently get back into VR, load up the game and it crashes to desktop and refuses to play. I've tried different headsets and more, and everytime it full crashes sometimes throws a flashbang in my face with the flashing lights then hard crash. You can't play it at all.

Game crashes from integrity violation, the game's own code is a violation according to EAC. The Safer Seas mode nerfs your gains, and the open seas is still filled with hackers. Enjoy at your own risk.

First mission, friend and I talking about how good the quality of the game was and how it felt. Only to never finish the mission, our guns stopped working the moment the boss showed up, followed by the boss shooting directly in the air the entire time. Only the NPC AI was still working. Mission was a bust. Game is a bust.
