What if I told you there was a game that is a battle royal game, with 60 players, playing minigames like in the game show "Wipe-out!"? Well, this is it. Fall Guys is for those who want to play online Multiplayer. It's a 'party game' wrapped up in a battle royal gameloop. This game is a blast, for a time, family/kid friendly, and quick and easy to get into.

Pros:
  • Fun minigames
  • Character customization through in-game earned/purchased cosmetics
  • Good price for value ($20 at time of writing, possibly free to play in the future)
  • Catchy but repetitive music
  • Fast queue times help mitigate how often you'll loose and re-queue back up
Cons:
  • Microtransactions, It's cosmetics only but the game costs $20 as well...
  • No variation in minigames once you've seen them all and while there are a decent number of them you'll be playing a lot of the same ones due to level picking RNG.
  • You will lose many times due to the team-based minigames even if you play perfectly and will also lose just getting knocked over in a crowd.
  • Gets boring pretty fast imo as the only variation is in the enemy players that might hinder you intentionally or accidentally
  • Hackers: flying, super speed, you name it, I've seen plenty and I only played for 2hr
  • A lot of hype about the game now will eventually fizzle out and it's hard to tell if a battle royal game with "party game" aesthetics will survive in the long term.
  • I refunded the game

Final Suggestion: I have played many party games that are still fun with friends, but honestly this game is not more or less fun with friends which doesn't bode well for it. Give it a try, but if you are like me this is not a party-game game changer.

What if I told you there was a game that is a base/colony management sim, steampunk aesthetics, moral decisions, great atmospheric music, on a ticking clock of icy doom where yourself and others might be more deadly than the cold? Well, this is it. Frostpunk is for those who want to play Singleplayer. The game has a great development team, 11Bit Studios, and just released the final DLC campaign completing the main storyline. This game is a blast and while not complicated or heavy in micromanagement keeps the story interesting with the moral decisions that will be have in campaign repercussions as well as replayed out to you after the campaign is finished.

Pros:
  • Amazing Singleplayer Experience
  • A good number of quality story expansions that introduce new stories, gameplay elements, and levels
  • An 'Endless' mode that combines the gameplay elements introduced in the expansions for infinite replayability, but lacking the story/moral elements unique to the campaigns.
  • Good price for value
  • Great sound track that brings the sense of dread and hope the people in this world are in
  • Knowledge, Skill, and minimal RNG
  • No Microtransactions, It's a full game for the price
  • Increased challenge/variation with gameplay settings that increases or decreases the difficulty of certain aspects.
  • "Just one more day..." addictive gameloop/feeling
Neutral:
  • This game focuses heavily on resource management and deciding when to do certain technologies based on the campaign/level/situation you're currently in. There's more focus on the colony as a whole and the buildings rather than the individual colonists themselves if that matters to you. But still involves and includes individuals that you can watch or rename.

Cons:
  • Almost all campaigns play out the same way once played as it's a linear storyline. But this game is focused on the journey you took and what you did to get there rather than the destination. There are some campaigns that do have some variation in endings based on decisions made.

Final Suggestion: I've gotten hours and hours of fun and I'm quite addicted to, so get it if it even interests you a little bit!

What if I told you there was a game that is a 3D arcade Rouge-Lite, crazy item builds/stacking, tight controls, and solid unique characters? Well, this is it. Risk of Rain 2 is for those who want to play Single or Multiplayer. The game has a great development team and just got the game out of Early Access. This game is a blast with friends or single to do the challenges.

Pros:
  • Amazing Multiplayer Experience
  • A good and growing roster of characters
  • Fun and wide verity of items and 'builds' to go for
  • Good price
  • Fast action that's built up towards
  • Multiple maps, level variation, secret levels/bosses, infinite 'looping' or go to final boss
  • Skill, Knowledge, and minimal RNG
  • No Microtransactions, It's a full game for the price
  • Increased challenge/variation with gameplay mutators called 'artifacts' that completely changes how the game plays.
Cons:
  • Over time is better with friends after completing/unlocking all items/challenges

Final Suggestion: I've gotten hours and hours of fun, so get it if it even interests you a little bit!

What if I told you there was a game that was a hybred of FPS and RTS gameplay? Well, this is it. Nuclear Dawn is definitely for those who want to play multiplayer or lan games with a group of friends. With a good number of classes and sub-classes and a good number of maps you'll find as much replayability as any FPS has. But it's unique way of mixing FPS with RTS sets it's self appart from other FPS titles. By yourself against CPU's or with friends you can spend time kicking plenty of ass!

Pros:
  • Under $10
  • Graphics stand up very well even in today's standards
  • Unique mix of FPS and RTS
  • Game promotes cooperation between teammates and team commander
  • UI is very smooth, plenty of game options.
  • Steam workshop support: Maps, gamemodes, etc.
Neutral:
  • Two gamemodes, TDM & Domination/Warfare
Cons:
  • Small player-base: 1 server with 12 players average daily
  • No Story mode
  • Bots in singleplayer are extreamly stupid

Final Suggestion: Get it. It's an awesome game. So long as you understand not many if any are playing

What if I told you there was a game that was a RTS with TBS and slap-stick comedy? Well, this is it. Skulls of the Shogun is definitely for those who want to play single player or do a battle against 1-3 friends. With limited unit classes and linear story missions you will find a one and done amount of replayability. But it's a comedy joyride and the missions are interesting and sometimes difficult depending on the difficulty you choose. By yourself or against friends you can spend time having an awesome adventure!

Pros:
  • Great SinglePlayer Experience
  • Comedy is enjoyable
  • Under $5
  • Unique story about a dead japanese shogun
  • Nice looking cartoon graphics fits with nice looking animations
  • Good tutorial and simple controls/UI allows for quick understanding and getting into it quick
Neutral:
  • Unlock further missions by beating current mission
Cons:
  • Getting XP during singleplayer is for multiplayer and isn't really important nor usefull
  • Not many modes for compeditive multiplayer

Final Suggestion: Get it if you think you could enjoy a comedy RTS/TBS.

What if I told you there was a game that was a perma-death story game with retro graphics and is a remake of the classic Oregon Trail with zombies? Well, this is it. Organ Trail is definitely for those who want to play single player with a hit of multiplayerif you've got friends sitting next to you. With a linear story line and different choices to make moral or otherwise you'll find a limited amount of replayability. Imput you're friends names into the game for increased entertainment and suspense. By yourself or with some friends sitting there you can spend time having some awesome adventures!

Pros:
  • A decient SinglePlayer Experience remenisient of Oregon Trail
  • Decision managment integral to your survival
  • $5 (Or less on a sale)
  • Interactive minigames when scavaging, doing a job, or by sudden event immerses you
  • Difficult, but in a well done way (Difficulty setting and your decision making)
Neutral:
  • Limited animations. I know it's to match Oregon Trail, but they could have improved it as well.
  • Decient Sound effects and sound track. Matches the content well though.
Cons:
  • Difficult aiming controls ( try click and hold starting at zombie head and pull and let go at your feet)
  • You don't need to do the extra event things happening off the road
  • Limited replayability due to praticially non-existant story and linear path.
  • Ending level is a joke, but what ever. . .

Final Suggestion: Get it if you like difficult and retro nastalgic games.

What if I told you there was a game that was a doungeon-crawler RPG with randomly generated levels and items? Well, this is it. The Binding of Isaac is definitely for those who want to play single player. With different items and floor layouts each you will find a lot of replayability. But it can start to get old doing the same thing a lot. By yourself you can spend time having some awesome adventures!

Pros:
  • Great SinglePlayer Experience
  • Item baised leveling up (No XP or actual leveling up)
  • Under $5
  • Randomly generated "Levels"
  • Difficult, but in a good way.
  • Unlock further levels by beating "main storyline" bosses.
  • Different endings depending on path taken after a certain boss fight
  • Basic 3rd person doungeon crawler controls
  • Very large pool of items, bosses, enemies, rooms for increased replayability
  • Sequal game coming out in Nov. of 2014
Cons:
  • Religion baised storyline (Though it's fine really, unless you're just that easily offended)
  • No multiplayer
  • Runs on Flash which causes lag if your CPU isn't up for it

Final Suggestion: Get it if you like doungeon crawlers.

What if I told you there was a game that had a unique travel mechanic called skiing and team based battle matches? Well, this is it. Ascend is definitely for those who want to play Multiplayer. With it being free-to-play the microtransactions can cause pay to win problems. The game is definitly more fun with friends.

Pros:
  • Decient Multiplayer Experience
  • Decient number of Classes/Perks
  • Character/class EXP persistance between matches
  • Weapon Upgradability
  • FREE-ish (Ingame microtransactions)
  • Fast adrenaline pumping action via unique skiing-mechanic
  • Arena maps with different game modes (CTF, Team death match, etc)
Cons:
  • No SinglePlayer (No Offline, minimun free account required)
  • Pay to Win (Unless you're good enough)
  • Things bought with ingame currency is WAY to expensive vs the real money alternative
Final Suggestion: Try it out!! See If You Like It
