A little dated and there are a lot better boomer shooters out there. I think Doom & Doom 2 are better designed and have more enjoyable levels. But what Marathon does, and does well, is build an interesting world with a strong narrative that most games didn't bother to do for the era.

Gunplay is serviceable and is satisfying. Most weapons in this game have an alternate fire mode, while novel concept for the period, these alternate fire modes are simple in execution.

The enemies in Marathon have intriguing designs and there are a nice variety of them throughout the game. Though I wouldn't say they are as iconic or challenging as Doom's enemies, but they are more built in mind to serve the story and flesh out the world in Marathon.

The levels I feel are the most dated aspect of this game. They are very mazey, and you will be running around narrowed hall ways in most of your time playing Marathon. It does lend itself to having an eerie and lonesome atmosphere. You will get lost and be backtracking trying to solve the various objectives. Another thing that bothers me is this games insistence on trying to create these weird platform puzzles. On top of that, the game doesn't have a jump button, you more or less run across gaps. They are very annoying and have odd timings.

I'd say this game can be enjoyable and there is some fun to be had, but it is very dated and has lingering issues that for me hindered the experience. With that in mind, it is an interesting look back to see the roots of Halo and that Bungie always had an act for world building.

A wise man play Counter Strike not to win, but to lose. Because you will not win in the game of Counter Strike. The need to be better, the need to want cool skin is a lingering snail. It will never catch you but it is always right behind you.

The way to win is not play, but play you must.

Idk where I'm going with this... game is fire bra. Fire in the deepest darkest pits of Hell. I suck at Counter Strike. I know good very bad please someone coach me ;( Also Valve is the coolest combany ever.

Geoff Keighley went out back and shot this poor game. Sure, it had rabies and was probably going to die anyway, but we could have waited and seen if it had a fighting chance. Oh well, hopefully Concord 3 comes out soon ;)

Shodan is big scary ai monster woman who I love. in theis game I ran a melee build, I had sword and stuff. this game gets pretty sppoky pretty qquickly. alos go t techo music dat while doesnt ness a celery match the creeep vibe does go hard and prety bangin. I like the circus one it my fav. now that i tink bout it the music does hav some nice dolby atmos sphere in certin lvls. dis game relly require high iq to play. it dont hold hands. i reckt o mend

Jonathan Blow is one of the greatest minds in gaming. Just think, if he were to die game companies would find ways to nickel and dime every consumer possible. We would see the degradation of game mechanics and design. There would be no originality, instead, developers would focus on trend chasing and making the same thing over and over. It would truly be a Hellish landscape. Thank God for Jonathan Blow.
