The hover car thing is annoyingly difficult to drive, but everything else about this game is pretty cool.

If you're into tech, and you like challenges that make you use your brain, I highly recommend this game. It's going to take a lot of patience and focus. You're going to puzzle 'til your puzzler is sore. You're pretty much writing somewhat abstract assembly code for a very peculiar architecture that might be inspired by transputers, where a powerful system is constructed from many simple processors connected via high speed links.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS THAT MIGHT MAKE YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR MONEY.

This games starts very well, but it seems like they must have run over-budget as they were nearing the half-way point, and some pointy-haired, evil corporate-type with a Masters in Business Administration made the developers throw together an ending in a weekend. THERE ISN'T EVEN A FINAL BOSS!!!! Didn't even fire a single BFG round: I was saving them for some huge monster mutant, but the game just ends after you fight a bunch of small ones. Very unsatisfying.

This game is also buggy. One problem which is very annoying: the elevator to the secret lair of the resistance will often keep going down, right out of the game map, leaving you stranded in darkness.

Rust combines beautiful and realistic scenery with many interesting scenarios, such as dying of radiation poisoning, being mauled by mutant bears, being eaten by wolves, stumbling around in darkness, and wandering aimlessly in wilderness. You can also form a collection of various items with no apparent use by searching derelict, radioactive structures. I have high hopes for this game, specifically, I hope it will encourage people to get up from their computers to take actual walks in actual woods, hopefully without any actual mutant bears. Seriously, though, the developers have made a strong start, and I think it will shape-up into a great multiplayer experience. Eventually.
