Changing my review until:
1. Il Toro is nerfed to an acceptable level. - This was addressed, though it was about 2 months too late. Still waiting on:
2. Cheaters are banned, zero tolerance is put in place. I work hard for my stuff and follow the rules, they shouldn't get to keep ill-gotten loot and the punishment should be to lose all of their progression. You have no other leverage. Deterrence is the best anti-cheat.

Normally I like a little permanent progression like talents or skills to gain so that every run isn't fully left to RNG. However, the RNG in this game is really amusing so I am overlooking that.
If you're needing a chill game that also stimulates your brain, the game scratches the itch.
Slay the Spire enjoyers, pick it up.

The graphics and artwork are stunning. I have a mid-to-upper tier PC and it runs like butter on max graphics.

The gameplay is polished and the combat is smooth. I will say, it's a bit harder to pull off my builds from the Demo since more skills were introduced, but I also said during the demo we needed more skills so........ not sure.

I love the little nuances in the game that make it special and unique, I love the RNG, it has so much that makes me keep wanting to come back for more.

People mad about the grindiness are just upset they can't unlock everything on day 1, which is preposterously absurd. I enjoyed the demo for 50 hours and didn't unlock everything. By the very nature of roguelites, the replayability comes from having a really solid dungeon and good gameplay. SoD does this really well. All the unlockables are the progression so why do you want to rush through it?

I plan on sinking hundreds of hours into this gem.

Get good :)

Had to come give these guys a 👍

There's a lot packed into this seemingly small game. It starts you off a bit slow but ramps up rather quickly once you start progressing through the missions and zones.

There's plenty of depth for many replays, tons of unlockable content, and seemingly more potential for future updates if the devs are up for it.

Pat on the back Prophecy Games!

A demo that feels more polished than most fully released games.
I can't wait to see what they do with the unreleased bits and because it's a demo I can't even be mad we don't have access to that content yet.

It feels like Lizard Smoothie has SOLVED gameplay loop. The problem I always have with ARPGs, no matter how epic they feel, is that ultimately I get bored. So far, each time a run ends, I end it wanting to go again and see what crazy build my RNG will get me on the next run.

The skill system is inventive and unique, the classes are varied and feel as they should. The tank feels tanky, the mage feels powerful, etc. As a huge RPG fan, I can attest that this game has some really great bones and shows a lot of promise.

Look. This game is old. It's been through a lot of changes. Shed your sheep skin and try it for yourself. Whatever it was before, it's a good ARPG now. I haven't had any of the issues people are whining about. The only problem with it is there's more people playing now than the servers are used to, which is a good sign, not a bad sign.

Devs prove again and again that they're listening and paying attention to the things that matter for the long-term fun and sustainability of the game.

At nearly 1k hours, I feel this is only half of what I intend on putting into it in 0.3.0.

Used to really like this game.

Slark still broken after years.

No point in playing.

Thusfar, I cannot praise Endnight Games Ltd enough. Their attention to detail and passion for this game clearly shows. I hope they continue to expand the content and make more reasons to explore their insanely gorgeous island.

Honestly, some of the most beautiful graphics of any game to date. To top it off, it's very well optimized and I have no trouble running ultra graphics on my Ryzen 3700x and RTX 3070.

5/5 graphics
4/5 polish on controls and building
4/5 sound design (once they fix some bugs and volume levels, 5/5)
4/5 multiplayer experience
4/5 combat
