My advice?
Stop reading this review & play the game already! This is worth going in blind with. Believe me, it'll be an incredible experience either way! Just remember to explore all options & possibilities, and we'll see where the journey takes you.

The ability to actually build your own vessel from scratch was an immediate seller for me, but the enviroment of the world itself is not to be forgotten. You can engage in the typical space-adventure-shenanigans if you'd like... or you can simply peruse around; selling mined materials or purchased goods across allied factions.

I bought this game expecting myself to roll into the lifestyle of a pirate; blasting apart trade ships & looting their wreckage for valuable salvage... instead i *became* one of those very trading vessels.
Only downside i can think of is that there is a learning curve for those who start of the game fresh; You can't grab a block & slab some engines onto it & call it a ship. Some thought process is needed when it comes to the construction of your vessel.

All in all though, wonderful game i love to play when i just wish to take things slow & easy... with the occasional spout of excitement.

"The Omnissiah directs our footsteps along the path of knowledge"

This game captures the atmosphere of the Warhammer 40k universe almost perfectly. Unlike so many other Warhammer 40k games as of late, which only have the aesthetics right, this game captures the realism of the Adeptus Mechanicus, The Imperium, The Necrons & all in between. This truly felt like a glimpse into the grimdark future of the 40.000th millennium.

The game itself is also very solid, providing hours upon hours of non-stop entertainment without you feeling like any of it was wasted. The tempo is decent, the difficulty fair & the gameplay easy to understand. The only complaint i have to raise would be the length of the game... but that matters not as you can play the game all over again & still enjoy it; Try different routes, new gear, new approaches to how to investigate the Tomb World.

All in all; A brilliant piece of gameplay that i'm ever so grateful to have had the pleasure to play.
I strongly recommend you give it a whirl yourself & enjoy the fun of Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus!

Would you like to hear a funny story? The first time i played Oblivion were many years ago when i borrowed if from a friend so i could play it on my Xbox 360. Back then, i thought the game was "lame" due to how slow i thought it was & how "bad" the graphics were. My friends told me to give it a chance, but i wouldn't hear it. I gave it back to my friend & didn't touch it again... until 1 year later. This time, i took my friends advice & looked closer at the game & all it had to offer.

It was then i realized what a fool i had been. This game, to me at least, is nothing less than a masterpiece.

Sure, the graphics are not the best in the world. Sure, the NPC's might repeat their lines if you speak to them long enough. Sure, It's still just a game. And that might have been why i didn't like it the first time; i expected it to be a simple game. But it was more than that.

Playing Oblivion became like... reading the Lord of the Rings-books for the first time. Or maybe watching the Titanic. You're expecting something similar to what you've seen before, only to have your expectations thrown out the window. Looking closer at Oblivion, i saw more than just a game.

I found myself in the world of Tamriel. I read dussins of old books & tomes to learn the world's lore & history. I explored the vast plains, deep forests & beautiful cities of Cyrodiil. I ventured deep into the dark caves & Ayleid ruins shattered all over the land, discovering ancient secrets & treasures hidden within. I trained myself to become a master of the blade, so that i could slay any Man, Mer or beast that might stand in my way. I studies the arcane arts, quickly becoming proficient in the arts of Conjuration & Mysticism. I dabbled in worship of the Deadric Princes, commiting several atrocities in their names to recieve their unholy artifacts. I even ventured into Oblivion itself, to a realm inhabited by madmen & ruled by a Mad God...

Truly, this game showed me the beauty of RPG's. It presented me not only with a funny game, but a whole world for me to explore however i wished. A definite Must-Have for anyone who loves RPG's or anyone who wants to understand why it's such a liked genre.
