I love the Serious sam franchise, from FE to this day. but serious Sam 4 has some issues.
it feels like this was released early (Beta tier?) because of the bugs experienced through the entire campaign.

CO op - works like all the others, its fun!

but I spent an hour optimising my setup on a Ryzen 3700x (8core) and RX580 GPU.
the game felt the CPU was ultra, and the GPU was 'LOW' so okay, played on that, and the cinematics were 'okay to poor' performing, where the land textures would redraw every time the camera changed shots.. it was eceptionally bad to see the camera swap from Sam, to NPC's back to sam and the surroundings redawing (blank slate to textured) it was rediculous.

I moved the game off a HDD to an NVMe and it STILL had the same issues, (I thought it was streaming the data in ALA GTA 5 on PS3 kinda thing) but no, the NVME was wiked fast to load but the performance within the game was rather poor. 'Surging/lagging' in some moments, but fine in others.
after a day of gameplay I tweaked it for an hour to make it better, progress was made but I still fall short of reasonable performance. 1080P at 60 FPS is achievable, but I'd suggest expect 30FPS for a reasonable game play.

I was skeptical as youtubers condemned parts of this game due to a dev slip up releasing the wrong version, it happens, but the final release in some ways still feels the same.
AI can be a bit.. or monumentally stupid.
the final level (HOLEY HELL THE BUGS IN THAT ONE) being suspended (locked) in air getting killed, being thrown above the sky (and boy the view was absolutely ♥♥♥♥) and finding the targets to hit on the boss was impossible to tell where to look with over a dozen 'hook' locations that all had the same indication of gragppling. why not limit the number of them, or colour code them or indicate hook with c4 on it to indicate where the player needs to go.
as co op was MONUMENTALLY FUN! the last mission was just painful, I got angry at my friend (as he didnt have grappling hooks showing at all) so his end was broken.

Sometimes I will come out of a cinematic and guns will not be animated (they shoot and kill but no visual feedback or sound)

zillions of enemies going is fine, but the last mission... they just run? what the eff? why no one shoot? (asthetic most likely, but still.. even a shot off here and there would make sense from your own army)

The levels are big, but some feel like a slog, it was only fun due to my friends playing, the jokes we had and the stuff we could do but playing it solo was such a chore.

this is less a serious sam game due to the changes they made, Visually I recomend "VIVID" colour pallet and "CLASSIC" crosshair (why the need to change this? from other sam games) but all means grant the option to change but lets keep consistency in the franchise.

TLDR; This game was released in a playable broken mess, give it a few dozen patches or 6 months and dive in!

- I recomend this game.. 5/10 for a sam game.. all the others are a 9/10.

@Creoteam I understand you guys are proud of what you made, and I wish you to keep going with Serious Sam, but as a lifelong fan, this one hurt to see released like this.. a bit more polish, an extra 6 months maybe. <3

Griding, Lack of content, Punishing RNG, slow to load instances,
Expansions are costly for very little added content/benefit,
Microtransactions and very much pushed into using/buying them every chance they get. very in your face.

TLDR;
Bungie wants me to play this game like a job, but doesn't pay me at least minimum wage.

Edit after 1110 Hours:
This game is looking more grindy than ever! Transmog.. Lordy :/

Edit After 1400 Hours;
Steam loves to nag but the above holds true still.
Beyond light removed stuff, now witch queen will remove some stuff, I wish to remain optimistic that one day it will be re-worked and shoved back into the game, and the one day it will be a one complete solid story, start to end, but lets work on the now shall we?

Destiny 2 is Gone, Now its just the expansions, soon Forsaken will be gone leaving Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and Witch Queen (Feb2022) at which point who knows where the road leads but they are slowly patching in Destiny Content from the consoles, VoG raid, ect, I imagine Witch Queen will drop in Venus, as VoG is a 'test bench' for the community on how the new scripting engine (beyond light) handles old content and re working it.

Love the gameplay, and yes, I'd prolly say i'm likely an addictive player at this point (150 light this season 15 of lost) others way higher so certainly not hardcore. but the above negative point stand.
Bungie does not respect the players enough to make it a positive experience.

AND FFS, DROP THE CAPS ALREADY. Masterworking my guns is 20 cores, Armour can be 40-50. its painful.
and costly if you want to 'test' builds out with the mod system.

TLDR; its a Fun timesink, and I show no benefit or gain from it.

Edit: An additional 3101 hours spent on this game, still grindy. (story improved, which shows how crap it was to begin with, but still they suck at explaining it all.. Cheers Evan, Byf and Mylin.

Edit 2; 2023 and Lightfall. (3800hrs In)
Completed it a whole week after Launch, it took some time, Legendary Campaign which was just utterly painful and garbage.
(7hr campaign at best)
I wanted to complete it with friends, but they just made it harder. instead of just more enemies, it was a boring drag of bullet sponges, everything required a Special or Heavy weapon to kill it, anything with kinetic damage was just not doing enough and requiring 15 shots to kill a red bar, I mean this was boringly painful.
instead, why do they not scale it up with enemies and trash mobs, people enjoy feeling powerful, not utterly useless 99% of the time.
In Serious Sam I can scale it that when a player joins it ads 2x or 10x enemy amounts, not harder ,just more. everyone is giving away bullets in that game, this you are giving away bullets and so much time on the one single dude its a chore.

The story; I'll spoil it for you. The ending Video picks up right where the intro one left off.. so, this game was filler?

Characters: I do not care what sexual orientation they are, if it does not drive the story forward then I do not need to hear it.. I mean, this is just Vegan people telling me they are vegan... Unless its relevant to the situation they are in like booking lunch or dinner, then I DO NOT need to know.

This will likely be my last year in Destiny, near 4000 Hours clocked in this game... I am burned out. I do not care for the story anymore since they are intent on dragging it out.
I paid for the content so I will consume the content. but what they have in the pipeline does not inspire me at all.

Its made too many changes for me to consider this fun.
it has made too many changes to make it viable.
and progressively shown to be a more broken game as time goes on with its issues.

I play Destiny Classic and see how much has changed but also how much has been lost from what made me Like and hate the franchise... I hated the taken king but loved rise of Iron. I hated forsaken and I hate Lightfall too.

Started playing the game and while the introduction took some time to accomplish, it was annoying to have to unlock the co-op function, it would have been nice to have that out of the box. (so thats an hour playtime down already before I could play with mates)

then after starting a game with friends, the physics and bugs started to rear its ugly head.. killing a zombie would cause the ragdoll to go spastic and mental, flinging and bashing into everything around it setting off alarms and attracting more zombies. then falling through the ground into nothingness killing me and costing me points. I am now in a state where I cannot proceed in the game due to this.

the parkour system is nice, like wall hanging and what not is quite cool. but due to my experience with this game, ive deleted it and putting it in the do not play bin.
