The free update that came with this had way more in it than I thought it would. The creators did not skimp on anything so I'm VERY happy to support the creators with packs like this when possible. I bought the first DLC myself and was gifted this one.

Be lamb, poop bowls for all.

Post-Game Edit: I've matured over these hours, learned what's important in life. There is something aged in my soul now that reminds me, sometimes a game is worth more than just a funny comment about poop. No longer are poop bowls at the top of my priority list. Now it's about kissing my fake animal husband, THEN poop bowls.

Admittedly it was quite the learning curve for me. (Keep in mind I have very strong ADD) I got frustrated often and some things had to be told to me by someone more experienced who was playing the game with me, the game itself did not teach certain things, I highly recommend reading or watching a video guide. That aside the game itself has so much content now and you can't possibly run out. You could spend a whole day or more just zooming your camera to the center of the galaxy and that doesn't include all the time it would take to get your ship there.

Once you get the keybinds memorized it's extremely fun and satisfying to mine, build, explore and etc. Once you think you have it all covered there is more to do; upgrading ships, installing mods that add new features to all your gear and then some.

The cons for me would be that multiplayer doesn't really feel like multiplayer. And I don't mean online. I mean just playing with my friend, we cant share boxes so if I want him to have access to my things I have to manually go back to him and give every item over one by one. Often quests glitch out if we try to do them together and generally we are worse off trying to do them together because if one of us completes it, the other cant. (Just a hope that they will give two or three player another look over in the future if you wanted to share a base with the person you are playing with.)

With the amount of hours I've played it's about time I leave a review. I still play on and off whenever the mood hits me. Certainly for you if you need something to do with friends.

I can't begin to excuse how many times I replayed this as a kid. Collecting the achievments and unlocking the extra dog forms you get after you play through it fully.

If you enjoy asian culture (Specifically Chinese) then you'll enjoy this regardless. The game doesn't try to censor it's culture to appeal to all sorts, and that might be why it didn't get the attention that I feel like it deserved. So much time and thought was put into this with gameplay time like I've never seen. Just when you think the game is over and you're about to accept the end of your fun, it punches you with more and more story. I was delighted as a child.

Every character has charm, you can come to enjoy and remember even the most passing of characters despite there being so many. Not to mention it's just a beautiful game to look at and move through. Because of it's heavy styalized nature it has aged well despite that it was originally a PS2 game.

Having said all that, these features are not in compensation for anything like some games, even the gameplay itself is perfect. I generally don't have interest in action/adventure games; with builder/collecter games holding my attention bedder, despite this I actually loved playing it. No task is boring or gruling. It's a mix of control and battle, as well as memory with the creative brush stroke powers and even hints of puzzles, though they aren't in your face. Think semi-open world "figure out how to progress" games like Zelda Windwaker, especially with quirky style. You get an equal mix of violence, humor, calm and heart warming moments.

My only regret is that the game or original company didn't seem to get enough attention to create a clear sequel like the ending suggests.

Early Access Review
I play this game with my little sister and nieces (Previously only on mobile) as a way for us to spend time together in our off hours. Both THIS version and the strictly computer version are both adorable and fun even for me.

It's sad to see so many negative reviews over an issue that is not related to the gameplay and quality of this game at all. Please do not let the negative reviews talking about some sort of drama effect your likelyhood to play the game. The staff on both versions of this game are extreamly attentive to their player base and generous as well. Nine times out of ten they will opt to compensate you for any misunderstandings or glitches, no questions asked.

The style of the models is adorable and the minigames are entertaining. It's the sort of game you can get into for years on end and I'd reccomend it to anyone, especially aunts who want something to do with their family like me :P I'm happy to see it come to a platform that I'm more often playing on.

It's no secret that most people are either very tentative about buying Sims DLC's or regret doing it afterwards, because of price verses what you get. I'm picky like that too. Especially with so many steam games these days giving just as much and not forcing you to pay an extra twenty dollars for every new piece of furniture you want.

However this expansion pack in particular IS worth your money. Sale or not. Anything you might get from different packs, you can find in this. New furniture, new interactions, new mechanics, a BUNDLE of new species, new places, new personality traits and all. And it's not just a few of each. It's a LOT. You'll get a different playthrough depending on what you are. Your interactions can vary from biting someone as a vampire to pranking them as a fairy. Don't get me wrong, it's not so much stuff that you're getting as much as the core game gives. But compared to some DLC's I've gotten or read about, this is the one to have.

Now
I'm going to come in from a view that is mostly unbiased.
As I have only played the first game for half a year.
This new one, I was on and off since before the official release.
This game and the one that came before it has always had it's ups and downs.
But the same will be said of any game. The importance is in the developer's willingness to expand based on what the players want, or what they are talking about.

As a player, nothing is more thrilling than the concept that you and the community have daydreamed of something until nights end, only to find out it's going to become a feature in an update or new game! Extinction brought a lot to the table, they offer many graphic features that you can tinker with as well. Many may complain about the lag this causes right off the bat. However the common case is that the system has put the settings at the max that your computer CAN handle, but not always what it will run smoothly on. I suggest playing with these options and lowering settings here and there for those experiencing choppiness.

But besides the look of the textures and models themselves, a fresh perspective was clearly taken on the environments and the level of detail in realism. I can't exactly count how many times I've stopped to see rain trickling down a metal sheet or became enthralled by sand blowing off the edge of a cliff, only to be shot down as a result of my appreciation for such features. Which brings me to my next point.

This game is not just for PVPers. PC may have begun with this concept in mind and the main theme of the game is still PVP. It's entire structure is crafted to support the needs of players fighting other players. However there are little tid bits that suggest the developers have noticed and even supported their more artistically inclined audience. Not just the environments, but the addition of features that allow you to set up a functioning role player server. Such as allowing an endless number of folks to be dinosaurs or humans, picking out maps that were made with tons of little hidey holes and good story telling scenes, and even turning off PVP completely so that no one can be ripped from their scene by a trigger happy trapper or that one rex who is just having a majorly bad day and only the feeling of something squished between his toes is going to change that. It's very humbling that the developers are willing to listen to and welcome all of their players, even ones they might not have expected to have. Many young and old dinosaur lovers have flocked to the game. And they were not met with failure to take their passions seriously. The makers have stepped up, revving the diversity of the species and the correction of their anatomy to please the hardcore dino-fan.

Such aspects may seem small in comparison to what one might expect from a game about 'I shoot you, you chomp me.' But it's proof that Primal Carnage is a game run by folk that can and will always evolve. The fact that we can put faith in how much our opinions mean to the developers is something many more games need today. I hope that in the future it becomes a MUST to please your players.

And before anyone thinks I forgot, yes I will remark about the game-play itself because even as an .. obvious role-player myself.. I too partake in the -carnage- on and off. I'm not satisfied with only one aspect of the game and if I try to go too long without either, it becomes boring fast. Sometimes the intricate tales of monsters lurking in the forest makes me restless to go unleash those skills against others in PVP, and as previously stated, the game is built upon the idea of PVP. You can choose your class of human or dinosaur. And though a majority of us obviously enjoys hurling ourselves on a human, turns are taken to make it fair for everyone. The human classes are nothing to sneeze at either. While I always feel a bit dull in comparison to the beast I was moments before, I quickly get over it and focus on fighting again. It's equally as satisfying to group up as humans and gun down a pack of raptor. Depending on what game-style you're best at, it's very important to find the class for you and start practicing it right away. (The community itself has made MANY guides on the tactics of these classes.)

All of that sounds like too many good points right? Well that's not even all of it, I just knew that no one would read a review this long without being paid generously. But for those who only feel safe purchasing a game after they have seen the flaws they are dealing with, well I'm here to deliver that unbiased opinion just as I promised. Like almost any PVP game, the community itself is fast paced, a lot of them are very young players as well. You may find an army waiting in a server to CAPSLOCK at you about your tactic verses theirs. However you may also find a community of well rounded adults who simply play the game and don't need to make remarks on others to validate themselves. My advice for those bouts of sour saps is to ignore them. Even if they call you or your game-play some ridiculous names, you just keep being you and have fun!

Another issue would be a pickle of bugs here and there this early on. Please make note of the DATE of this rating because the game is practically brand spanking new of this year, you simply cannot expect everyone to have found every bug yet. When they are found, they are fixed. But they do exist and when you find them you are encouraged to report them instead of quit the game. Be a contribution to the betterment of the game!

The last topic I can offer is .. one I don't fully understand but have heard of among the other players. General issues running the game or lag or bugs that no one else seems to be experiencing. All I can say is that I have never personally experienced any issues like this on PC: extinction. These problems may be to do with something on the players end that can easily be searched up on a forum and fixed.
