Short and snappy are the words that best sum up this brilliant game.

tl;dr This is a fan-freaking-tastic lovechild of FEAR's enemy callout system, Hotline Miami's rapid repayable level system, and Doom Eternal's 'the battle is a symphony' combat feel, topped off with a great soundtrack and a simple but satisfying story.

It's short, incredibly so. As of writing this review, I had spent about 2.4 hours in the game and finished the main story, even replayed a few levels to ensure I could unlock later story levels. If you were to base it on that alone, it'd not be worth the asking price. But that's not the whole story.

Instead, what you get for this asking price is a perfectionist's wet dream. Constant new challenges are the reward for completing previous ones. Finished the level? Great, now do that level again but using only melee attacks. Oh, you've done that too? Okay, this time, here's a bunch of activatable laptops that are in more obscure areas that force you to engage with enemies in a way you'd not usually need to in this level.

You got a few S ranks? Wow! Incredible! Here's some actually difficult challenge levels for you to cut your teeth on. I've not unlocked the majority of those yet. I only have two S ranks. I intend to get more. The game is making me want to get them all.

I haven't talked about the other attractions. A hard hitting satisfying gameplay loop, with a soundscape that applauds you for every kill, and pushes you to feel the rush of the speed that the game encourages both for score and survival purposes. The soundtrack? Ballistic, ecstatic, an electronic symphony with the kind of brutality you'd expect from the guy you're playing as.

There is but one nitpick for me. I wish that the enemy callouts not only said what you were doing, but were more precise about *where* you were doing it. Yes, I am using headshots, but I want to hear them yell out "He's ran into the tunnels in the west!", or see enemies working together. When you're so close to emulating the brilliance of Fear's enemy callout system, it cannot help but be compared.

And that's the thing; that's the only nitpick I've got!

It sets out to do a job, and does it near-perfectly. It may as well be perfect when the nitpick is as ridiculous as 'I want to hear more of the voice acting.'

Do yourself a favour:

If you like FPS shooters - Play this
If you like Hotline Miami - Play this
If you like FEAR's callout system - Play this
If you like games that push you to perfectionism - Play this
If you want bang for your buck with a game you can replay again and again just to get better and better -
PLAY THIS GAME

Early Access Review
I ended up here while checking my library for stuff I needed to get some more hours on. I saw that this still had a store page, so I thought rather hopefully that maybe there had been some news on its community page from the devs since 2019. There wasn't, and I'm just kind of sad this never worked out.

It's abandonware, it's not worth your money - but the echos of what potential it had are worth seeing on Youtube.

It's got atmosphere, the actual *shooting* is enjoyable, and the clunky ai does not hamper enjoyment of said shooting mechanics. Yet it's not enough to have that, when all that is structured around that is some rather basic levels, and a development path which stopped abruptly and never picked up ever again.
It's just a shame that potential never got the support it needed to flourish.

It's darn fun, great for alternate histories and brilliant for playing with friends, so long as you're willing to the hours needed to get the hang of it, and the length of sessions needed to have a fun multiplayer game.

Exactly what it says on the tin, only buy if you want to contribute to the dev or if you like the specific look of this stuff - tbh it looks pretty darn nice, and the emotes are kickass, for £2.09, it's a pretty good way of donating to the devs.

It's not much more than that, and it's honest about it, and that's appreciated.

And I love every single second of it.

Such a clever little game, I just wish my computer could play it properly. Can get pretty intense, just trying to load bullets into a colt mag. Or into a revolver or even a full auto glock. They've thought of everything to do with each of these guns. Must buy for such a cheap price.

Wow, just wow. Each time I play a paradox game I feel like I'm playing a practicly different game but you can still see its the same game, plus they all present their own problems. Still haven't learnt the basics (I know it will take time) and I won't for a long time. But I think thats whats got me hooked. xD
