It requires a lot of patience, but as long as you don't rush its one of the most relaxing games out there.

"Rise and shine, Mister Freeman. Rise and... shine. Not that I... wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job. No one is more deserving of a rest, and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well, let's just say your hour has... come again."

The first words you hear from Valves most famous game and for good reason. It may not stand up to games of today graphicly but when was a good game ever rated on looks alone. However considering this game came out in 2004 it stands up very well. one of the things that makes this game so good is the sound design. Whether you're clambering on the rooftops or simply administering health, theres always a sound that perfectly suits every occasion. The music kicks in when you find yourself under intense fire from enemy forces which does a great job at keeping the action at a consistently high level. the voice acting is also topnotch and runs parrallel with an incredible story. One thing this game also does well is veriety. Each chapter you will find yourself doing somthing different which not only helps to keep you engrossed but also shows the breadth and capability of Valves source engine, which powers the grapics, AI, sound, physics and facial animations of the game. All in all Half Life 2 is a fantastic adveture and a specimen the likes of which is rare in todays market.

You know a game is special when it creates its own internet stardom in the continued reference to an elusive confectionery myth. When you look at Portal's core mechanic of, well, portals (duh) you see that there isn't much to it. But it doesn't need need any more than it has. Portal is perfect the way it is. Its such a simple and easy concept to grasp yet it has the ability to produce a seemingly infinite number of puzzles. The antagonist and star of the show GLaDOS (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System) is one of the most cruel characters ever to come out of a game. The enemys that she herself produces in the form of turrets inherit this persona as they taunt you with their misleadingly delicate voices. When you play Portal you will enjoy it but not for the same reasons as other games. The atmosphere that is created provides a unique style of game that you don't often see, but you will grow to adore.

This free-to-play colab between valve and pop-cap is a fun addion to the peggle series. you won't see any new mechanics as part of this expeation, but thats not the point. The aim of this game is to prove that adding flesh eating headcrabs and evil turrets to this otherwise colourful fun creates a strange allure. Wait! no, no, no! thats far too boring for a game called Peggle Extreme. hmm.... BOOM! BOOM! POW! EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE! NO NOT THE FACE! NOOOOO! There thats better.

Have you ever thought to your self "Could I be a doctor?"

More specifically a doctor who managed to bribe his way through Med school but realistically has as much use in a hospital as a leper in strip club. These Questions and more can be answered by playing this hilarious and challenging "simulation" of the surgeon and his comically bloody operations.

Dispite this games age it still holds up as one of the best open world games created. A cast of wonderful characters. An incredible soundtrack. A level of freedom that many games can only dream of. Last but by no means least a catalogue of cheats for the days where flying an RV of the top of a mountian is all you want. If only the AI wasnt so useless in thoes critical missions, but meh.
