If you're scared this isn't gonna be as fun as Space Marine 1 then you're missing out BIG TIME.

Space Marine 2 so far has been an amazing experience for me in the singleplayer and multiplayer PvE sections of the game, granted I haven't played it a super duper long amount so I can't speak to long-term quality of life things or extended server usage, but aside from that it's been really good.

The combat feels similar to SM1 but it doesn't carry a lot over aside from the combo and execution system, the timing is a bit different and certain weapons don't feel as fluid as others, but that may vary from user to user. They've introduced a new parry system where you press C to block incoming attacks and while it can feel clunky at first, it actually flows pretty well once you (again) learn all the enemy and attack timings. Also, executions aren't health packs in the campaign anymore, they're a hit recovery kinda like a fighting game, so the game overall feels a bit more difficult because you can't go gallivanting from enemy to enemy pressing E until you're well again, you'll actually have to use a lot more of your old Exterminatus mode kiting and threat assessing skills to actually handle large groups of enemies.

The actual campaign and story as I actually experienced it was great, despite being a tad short, and I don't think there's any unfaithfulness to Titus' character or any real suspension-of-disbelief breaking lore inconsistencies with the main Warhammer canon surrounding Space Marines. It's actually a pretty interesting narrative to see Titus coming back into the fold after his time under penance with the inquisition, it gives me Dawn of War II vibes sometimes, especially with Gadriel's moments, he really reminds me of Thaddeus from DoW2.

Honestly the main negatives I have about this at this current point in time feel like nitpicking, but it does seem to have small online issues at times, there's still that grind element from SM1 where you'll be doing a lot of play to earn those in-game shinies (which is fine, it's just hard to grind for cosmetics when you're squeezing gaming in between other things, instead of having it as your main entertainment source), and it does sometimes just feel a little janky or too reliant on animation polish instead of game logic, but again these are nitpicky complaints for me, not significant effects on my experience at all.

Game also runs great on low-midrange systems, ran this on a 3700X with 16GB RAM and an RTX 3060 and it's really only struggling with the RAM portion of the equation, stable high 80+FPS except for brief slowdowns in specific dense rendering situations, feels really good, and settings are near max on 1440p

A great FPS with a small strategic edge. NOTE: Don't run n' gun or try and be a hero! It will get you killed because an enemy is being defensive right behind that corner or hall you're rushing! :)
