This was a pretty fantastic game for being made by a solo dev. Was the story great? Eh, debatable. (I personally wasn't a fan, but story doesn't really mean anything, to most people, nowadays.) Was the gameplay fun? For the most part. It's a little cheese-able, and combat on the hardest difficulty was all or none and definitely didn't feel like the game was really well designed to be played on the hardest difficulty even though I did beat it. Was the atmosphere immersive? Absolutely. Felt like exactly like an indie dev's version Half Life 1. (The dev absolutely nailed that part of the feel of Half-Life 1 to a tee.) Pick it up on a sale, like I did, and you will not be disappointed, especially if you like the greatest game of all time... which is Half-Life 1 (I will also accept Diablo 2).

Despite people bagging on this game as "Dad Slop," (eat your heart out, General Sam) this is one of the best Battlefield experiences I have ever played. Is it the literal creme de la creme, best Battlefield? No, that will forever, in my mind, belong to Battlefield Bad Company 2. But is it a legitimate entry into the series, worthy of the name? Absolutely. There are so many game modes now that there is something for everyone, and with Portal still being a thing, if there isn't a game mode you like from the main roster, there is bound to be one in the Community tab via Portal. The guns don't feel too same-y, and no glaringly "OP" weapons. The map balance, I think, is the only thing that leaves something to be desired compared to other Battlefields. The maps are very close quarters, or really long range, and there is no in-between. The vehicles are actually usable, and not particularly OP. I literally couldn't fly anything aircraft in BF2042. Like none. But in BF6, I can fly everything except the jets (I can fly them, but I am far worse than most pilots, so I usually just leave them for others to use). The changes brought with BF6 also are refreshing, like the dragging feature for rezzing people, and different versions of the passives (like the Frontliner for Assault and the rest I can't remember off the top of my head.) Overall, this has been an excellent new addition to the Battlefield series, and I can't recommend it enough. Especially since the Steam version does not require you to have EA app installed, and it does not run the EA app to load up the game, like most previously have (BF2042 in most recent history).

The game from the trailer showed to be like a Doom style shooter, with some silly mini-games interspersed. What it didn't show was the weird philosophical dialogue that is a large portion of the game. And even the Doom part isn't really that interesting. Shoot things in the head/melee them in the head until they die. Like literally zero nuance to the game-play. The philosophical part is way too preachy as well. Like if I wanted to attend philosophy class at my local college, I would do just that. Also, after playing for about 2 hours, I am pretty sure (based on the screenshots of the game) I was literally near the end of the game. Now on sale for $0.99, sure I'm sure SOMEONE out there will appreciate this. But not for me.

Early Access Review
TL;DR If you like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., or any of the mods made for it, then you absolutely must play this game. It will definitely scratch the same itch, without just being more of the same that you have already played a zillion times.

This game is a literal masterpiece. Take everything you loved about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (and adjacent games in the genre), along with mods, and jam them all together into a highly modular experience that is deeply customizable and really fun/interesting. Practically massive list of armor, weapons, consumables (including meds, food, grenades, etc.), junk/collectibles, and artifacts, and more are being added periodically (meaning there will be EVEN MORE before the game officially releases). The universe is pretty interesting to find out more about, and if you're into furry stuff, there's that too (but not so dominated by it that if you are repulsed by furry stuff, it's pretty ignorable.) There might be aspects of the game that might upset certain groups of people, such as pronouns, males with female voices and vice versa (though at the moment, the bodies all look the same anyway, they are kind of androgynous, in that way), and other stuff I can't remember right now. Even with all the aforementioned stuff, I still think that group of people could still enjoy what this game has to offer, as the gameplay, the atmosphere, and being basically the highly modular game that is indicative of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. genre, should allow those people to see past the things that might upset them, and to truly enjoy the experience that A SINGLE DEV has managed to put together. The cost is also very reasonable for what is currently available in the game, and to think there will be more added in future updates as well! Oh man, it just makes me so excited for the future of this game. I talked a little about it earlier, but there is basically a sandbox mode (a la Anomaly or GAMMA mods for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) that allows you full customization (with slight restrictions) of your character's appearance, their starting gear, spawn point, faction loyalty, perks or curses, class name and description, etc. Please support this single dev for the beautiful masterpiece that they have managed to make all on their own. Thanks for reading.

Amazing little game, made by a really cool single developer. On the shorter side, but does have some replayability in the form of different modes, and level remixes. All in all, very fun experience, silly, fun, and overall satisfying game.

There is no contest. This game is FAR BETTER than Overwatch 2. Period. There is nothing else to say.

Just as Fallout 3 (and other of the Open World RPG games from Bethesda) was inspired by the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is truly inspired by the Fallout games, but in the best way possible. It is like if you took the best features and ideas that all the "modern" Fallout games had, but put them into the idea and setting of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe. Truly a masterpiece that is just as equally worthy of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. name and franchise.

Truly a gem for very cheap. Easy to get into, but you can put more time into it to master the gameplay loop and have even more fun. New multiplayer mode is also amazing, get your friends to get this, and have a blast (literally) shooting each other with a shotgun in an underground portion of a night club. What isn't to like about this game?
