At the moment, this is the best survival sandbox mmo ever made. You cannot trust your fellow player implicitly, making the bonds you forge that much stronger. If you've ever played Wurm Online/Unlimited this is decidedly the next game in logical progression. There are timed servers that reset at regular intervals, providing a "gold rush" type of experience every so often as players recongregate on the new server. I've been playing as a hermit for 10+years now, and I've never tired of this game. Very little comes close the to the experience it can provide. Every adventure outside your walls can be pulse-pounding, every interaction exhilarating. I've made many friends of my local neighbors, but you can lose everything in a flash. Was it your once-friendly compatriots? was it a silver-tongued liar? a bloodthirsty raider? the game supports all of them, and you, the lone dork trying to make your way in the world. Certainly not a game for the faint of heart, but if it sounds like it appeals to you, its probably the best game you will ever find.

Roguelite shooters scratch a very specific itch, and this is my obsession at the moment. Characters are awesome, builds are diverse and powerful, mountains of cool guns and upgrades.

Ziggurat 2 is another worthy contender to the FPS-Roguelite genre I adore so much. While I personally prefer games of the genre to have as little meta-progression as possible, this is a standout exception.

Initially I was unsure about the concept of the citadel and embarking on individual quests. It seemed like too big of a departure from the first game, but it quickly dissipated as I started to do longer "quests" which manage to boil down the run style of Ziggurat into a slightly more concise package.

I'f you've played the first game, the action feels very similar with a bunch of fan-favorite weapons returning alongside their newer counterparts. If you haven't played the first game, combat is fast paced and you'll need to keep your head on a swivel, interesting level design paves the way for unexpected enemy placements and strategies.

Minor gripe: It's unclear why some items and loadouts are not available on some missions. I'm not sure if it's random, related to the tileset, or what.

As it stands in early access, I'm feeling a strong 8/10. The last couple of points could be made up with the announcement of a co-op feature and some voice acting for the already attractive cutscenes.
