The game's pretty good. My only complaint would be that the game is somewhat short, with my initial playthrough being around 5 hours.

I would give this game a mixed recommendation if I could as I feel I can only recommend the game to avid fans of Digimon.

The game (only talking about Cyber Sleuth as I haven't played Hacker's Memory) has decent turn-based combat but gets boring when you have animations set to short (which is a necessity given the grind needed to get ultra and fusion Digimon) and the lack of stylized UI (look at Atlus' games P5 or Metaphor for a good example). The walking speed of the player character is incredibly slow and the environments get boring since they all have the same general look. The story and characters are fine but are not nearly as good as I've come to expect from the franchise.

I'd give the game a 6/10 for these reasons and only recommend playing if you want to compare it to Time Stranger, which comes out in October and seems to fix/improve most of the problems I mentioned.

The game was indeed about digging a hole.

The only issue I had was that the game was giving me a headache because I forgot to turn motion blur off.

Otherwise, its fine.

Let me preface this review by saying that I'm well aware of the fact that my experience is likely not representative of the average player/Steam user due to me being a Linux user. I'd also like to mention my specs [7900X, 7900 XT, 32 GB RAM, high speed gen 4 SSD, and a 1440p ultrawide].

As my playtime shows, I've spent 1 hour in-game. This time was spent entirely on trying to optimize the performance, which, while playable (50-ish fps at native 3440x1440p with mix of mostly medium and high), could certainly be higher (especially when later sections of the game are, according to what I've heard, more taxing). I would except this if the game's graphics didn't glitch out when attempting when changing certain settings/having a specific combination of settings or trying to run resolutions other than native. My best guess is that it has something to do with the how the lighting implemented. for example, changing global illumination on anything other than epic causes red and green lines to surround the walls, the stone tiles around the dock (below the ledge), and parts of the player character. I haven't seen anyone on ProtonDB or anywhere else talk about it but it doesn't seem to be a problem with any specific version of proton since it occured on experimental, 9.0-4, GE 9-13, and GE 10-10. I don't know if this is a problem with UE5 games as I haven't played any games (AFAIK) that use it but I haven't experienced this problem. It's not because of wayland/x11 either.

I'd like to actually play the game since I've heard nothing but good things about it and enjoy turn-based RPGs but since I can't change the resolution or settings to achieve a decent fps without this graphical glich completely ruining the visuals, I don't think I'll be able to. I can't refund the game (bought through humble) so all I can do is hope this issue is resolved with a future bug fix/optimisation update or Proton version

Doesn't work well on Linux. The longest it's lasted without crashing is 30 minutes and every time it crashes it completely locks my computer up (the last crash I had didn't even let me use REISUO/REISUB). The game also crashed so hard that it reset my display configuration and changed my desktop shortcut layout. If the game worked properly then I'd probably think it'd be fine but since it does't, I simply can't recommend it.

Despite being heavily RNG dependent (like any other Rougelike), it doesn't feel frustrating. Sometimes you'll try refreshing the run over and over to get a good start on harder Stakes just to lose by the half way point but rather than be discouraged you just jump into another run. Genuinely one of the best Rougelike I've played and certainly worthy of it success.

Early Access Review
My friend gave me this under the condition I play with him (I hadn't heard of the game before). It's pretty fun though it definitely needs more polish. During the session, I crashed 3 times (some fatal errors. I thought it might be a proton issue but I was told that it happens on Windows as well). After the first crash, I had issues getting into a lobby and I had to restart the game. The game could definitely use another map or 2 with different tasks to add some extra value (the game is early access though). It's also worth noting that the enjoyment of the game depends on who you're playing with and not every public lobby is going to be great (not as bad as among us but it's still significantly better with friends).

I'm marking this as "Do not recommend" because Achievements are bugged (I originally thought it was because I was using Linux but still nothing after trying on my laptop, which uses windows 11). Ignoring that, the game is a decent despite being tedious to get all 60 pages printed (most of my play time was just one run where I finished the game on day 1 by selling water).

Edit: Changed to recommended since the dev fixed the bugged achievements (quickly I might add). I'm not sure how to get the final achievement, "Welcome Home", because once I beat the game after getting all the achievements ( how to get the achievement from what I have read) and skipping the credits, the game seemed to freeze or something.
