Stellar Blade – a great game that stands on its own

A visually stunning game that – much like Lies of P – proves you don’t need the newest, often problematic engines to create an impressive presentation. What you really need is a strong artistic vision and solid optimization.

The game is practically 100% playable in ultrawide and looks phenomenal in HDR. Considering the scale of the world, performance is also very good, which makes exploration and combat even more enjoyable.

Speaking of combat – the game features great bosses, a very satisfying combat system, and a solid dose of brutality. On Hard difficulty, especially toward the end of the adventure, it can become genuinely challenging and rewarding.

A few small quality-of-life features are missing, mostly for players going for all achievements – for example, simple information showing whether you’ve unlocked all camps in a given area. Still, these are very minor issues in the grand scheme of the game.

Stellar Blade is simply a great production. It would stand strong even without our very attractive protagonist, but Eve is definitely the cherry on top. Interestingly, the further you get into the game, the more “human” her character becomes, which adds nicely to the atmosphere and narrative.

The game also surprised me with many themes and ideas that at times reminded me of other great titles – like NieR, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and even some elements of the atmosphere known from Bloodborne or the works of Lovecraft.

If you enjoy dynamic combat, impressive bosses, and atmospheric sci-fi with a touch of philosophy – this is definitely worth playing.

I’ve never been a fan of the Souls series’ online component, but this is definitely a positive surprise. The game offers many new, well-designed bosses, plenty of nostalgic encounters, and a completely different approach to the world of Elden Ring. The DLC map still doesn’t entirely convince me, but I have to admit it’s beautiful and encourages a completely different approach. Technically, the game runs fine; however, the HDR is quite weak. Additionally, for some reason the game does not support ultrawide displays.

Dispatch – Short but Lovely

Dispatch is one of those smaller games that doesn’t try to be huge or overly complicated, and that actually works in its favor.

The visuals are beautiful and clean, with a style that’s very pleasant to look at even if it’s not trying to be ultra-realistic. It simply looks good and fits the tone of the game perfectly.

Gameplay is fairly simple and straightforward. It’s not something revolutionary, but it works well and never gets in the way of the experience.

Where the game really shines is the audio – the soundtrack and sound design are genuinely fantastic and elevate many moments.

The story feels like a good TV series that I’d gladly watch again, with interesting characters that make the short playtime engaging and memorable.

If there’s one small thing missing, it would be ultrawide support, which would have been a nice addition on PC.

Performance is smooth, the game isn’t demanding, and during my playthrough I didn’t encounter any bugs.

Overall it’s a short, polished, and enjoyable experience that’s definitely worth the price if you’re looking for something smaller but well made.
