there has never been a game in my life where i saw it randomly on the steam page, purchased it, sat down and played it to 100% in one sitting.
My attention has never been so captivated. and the fact there is the possibility for mods as well just makes this game so much better. looking forward to upcoming mods and going to be buying the dlc soon

buy this game its so damn good for what it is

First of all i wanna start by saying this.

Yes I do recommend the game
The game plays well for what its trying to be. A deck builder rougelite that is always going to be ever changing because of the constant shifting in metas because of balance changes and items being removed cause of funny bugs. It adds a bit of chaos to the gameplay loop.
So every run will feel different no matter what.
If that sounds like your kind of thing and dont care about anything else then go in. You will have fun if you're looking for a long term deck building rougelite with sudo pvp.

I played this game a ton. like im talking hundreds of hours in the closed beta. I loved it. I STILL love the game to the point i rebought it on steam just because i wanted it on here.

Okay now let me tell you a story. So you probably already read the stories of the devs censoring and stuff of the sort and it is true. I used to use this application called BazaarTracker. It was a fantastic tool to show and save your runs that you have done, winrate stuff, etc. It also showed the item spawn rates for the shops based on the day. Really helpful for people that are learning what items are able to show up where and to plan ahead other runs and such.
Tempo did not like this application like at all. Instead of talking it out with the dev they just released an announcement saying that ANY type of application that overlays/overtakes part of the game itself is bannable.

here is a link to show that they did talk about it. this takes you to a message in their discord in their announcements channel talking about the situation about "mods". (join their discord first so it works properly.)[discord.com]

I am in both discords for Bazaar and BazaarTracker. The dev right soon after was fully banned off their discord AND THEIR GAME.
With zero warning he was fully banned with no warning. This was their first ever statement aside from the EULA of their game saying that "mods" are bannable. He wasnt given a chance in order to take the application down. He was forced off their game that he paid for and an application that he developed for the love of the game.
Its heartbreaking that they do not take anything lightly.
In one side, yes he should've atleast had a warning for what he was doing breaking their EULA. But its also the fact that it was months of criticism adding up against Tempo that everyone took it the absolute evil way.

Here is a link to the reddit post where he got taken down. its even silenced on there. you can see his reddit history of him talking about the tracker
I love this game, I really, really do.
Play the game with the same love that I have for it. But tread ever so lightly

I really do want this game to flourish, but the sin of greed is going to hold it back

5/10

I just start off by saying that I have played a lot of shadowverse years ago, my account doesn't show it but i did play it a lot on mobile. Lost my account 2 times because of the really dated id transfer system and never properly saving that info.

The game is a huge step in the right direction, The mix of MTG and Pokemon combat mechanics really makes this game stand out from the rest of online card games. As a personal preference on playing so many tcgs, this is the best of both worlds for me. I used to also play a ton of yugioh and grew tired of the endless responses and negates the meta has grown into.
I am not saying its a bad thing. A lot of people like the ability to respond on other peoples turns. Thats were I say that Magic does it right with needing untapped lands in order to play said cards for responses.

What shadowverse does right is being able to still feel powerful even when u arent able to respond during your opponents turn. Gameplay wise is fantastic on its deckbuilding aspect aswell. Until you start running into the issue of missing cards.

Turns out that they nearly doubled the cost of everything in this game. Card packs are more expensive. crafting is more expensive. Breaking down gives u less.

You used to be able to play meta if u put a decent amount of time into the game, thus making it worth your while.
And yes I am well aware of the free daily card pack. You can recive up to around 60 free packs just by logging in until the new set releases. (From what i've heard. Many people are saying that a new set should release at around 2 months in. Give that info a grain of salt. Maybe even a lump.)

Unless that daily pack thing is only for the launch of the game to start you off. Once you are finished with all the free items they give you, your honeymoon phase will be cut pretty short. Everything dries up pretty quickly and youre stuck with what you have until more events or just keep opening your dailies.
This wouldn't even feel like a bad thing if they just didnt touch the numbers on the crafting materials. Legit. It would be fine.

Closing thoughts.
I want this game to succeed, I really do. I've been waiting for it to release for so long and to be fair. For the most part, yes. I am happy with how it plays.
But do I see it surviving for the long term with how greedy and predatory their trying to make the game.
I sadly don't and it hurts because its fantastic to play.

I understand they need to make money.
But wasnt shadowverse doing well enough to let the devs even be able to make this game too? I just dont get it.

Its so saddening.

I will still sadly be playing because Im a sucker for their collabs. I'm even hoping the chiikawa collabs makes a return possibly.

Play the game give it a shot. If you like it too, thats great. Welcome in with open arms from the players.
Just watch out for the thorns from the devs.
