Excellent atmosphere--It does not outstay its welcome. Though it has a basic scary campfire-tier plot.

The visuals and sound design are excellent. I especially love the VHS effects of the map and the shake of the UI (Much like the shake text has in old movies) The crafting is simple and straightforward.

Some have said the fear of the alien wears off after a while--I wouldn't entirely disagree but the cosmic horror of the first alien was preserved throughout the base game.

There were times where it reminded me of the more convoluted parts of Super Metroid (Not totally clear waypoints for example) and some of the graphics are starting to show their age (but that's obviously with this art form).

7.8/10

Very good! Engaging combat and satisfying story.

Whoever decided to tag this as souls-like has holes in their brain cause the only similarities are:
✅ Is in third-person
✅ Has a (laser) sword
✅ (**Occasionally**) There are difficult bosses

It's more a metroidvania than souls-like

Re-playable and humorous dialogue. In my 366 hours of playing, I have yet to meet someone in this community who was unpleasant

What I like:
- The game is at its best when I don't need a tutorial to know where to go
- This game forces you to actually engage and learn about the game mechanics on a deeper level than a more forgiving game (this manifests in you dying a lot and needing to try something new with a boss/enemy.)
- I like how every environment is gloomy -- It seems the most “happy” Elden Ring gets is emotionally neutral.
- Character creation is excellent
- You don't lose runes on death unless you die before you get to the wheat thing
- Most boss fights are usually straightforward
- The respawns are usually close to the boss rooms
- The creature designs are very nice -- Especially the ones seemingly lifted directly from illuminated manuscripts.

What I don’t like:
- It's like the video game equivalent of getting quizzed on something the professor didn't teach (or didn't teach very well)
- I'm free to go anywhere but nowhere is really calling out to me (yes there is the sites of grace pointing me but idk which to prioritize and they don’t disappear once I get to the end of their rout)
- I find grinding to get stats is less enjoyable than grinding to get good (e.g. Sekiro is a grind-to-get-good game)
- I've been LITERALLY stabbed through brick walls[medal.tv]
- Both flasks at a glance look the same (when you're low, they lose their colour and both start with C)
- Your horse’s second jump doesn't reset the tracker for fall damage
- Very little is straightforward. In order to get item A, you first need to fight boss B, which happens after you’ve started quest C which you can only start in location Q.
- [IN MY OPINION...] The combat is un-engaging--You either dodge, attack, or replenish your health/mana
- Too many crafting items (I think I just don't like crafting in games)

I'd give this a 2.5/10 but with the multiplayer mod it's a 5/10

A stellar example of environmental and sonic storytelling -- I'm eager to read this game's iceberg memes.

It’s very fun, though movement, especially in first person, feels a bit difficult to control. It’s almost like playing GTA V in first person. Other than that and the hackers it’s very fun. My suggestion (if you do get it) would be to turn down voice chat volume before you join your first game—people like to make loud noises when your in the pre-jump phase.
