Lut kavmi, kendilerine peygamber Lut'un gönderildiği Sodom ve Gomora şehirlerinde yaşayan bir topluluktur.
Bu kavim, din adamı olan Lut'a karşı gelerek cinsel sapkınlıklar sergilemiştir. Kur'an'a göre, erkekler arasında gay ilişkileri yaşamak isteyen Lut kavmi halkı, meleklerin yanına giderek onları da bu sapkınlığa davet etmiştir.
Allah, bu sapkınlıkların yayılmasını engellemek için Sodom ve Gomora'yı helak etmiştir. Bu olay, İncil'de de anlatılmaktadır.
Lut kavmi'nin helak edilmesi, İslam dininde bir uyarı niteliği taşımaktadır. Bu olay, Allah'ın cinsel sapkınlık gibi günahları hoş görmediğini ve bu tür davranışların toplumda yayılmasına izin vermeyeceğini göstermektedir.
