This is very much an underrated dungeon crawler. Difficult enough to be hard but never so difficult to feel like deaths are anything but your own fault. Nothing describes the feeling of the dopamine rush you get when finding a +4 draining mace in a random chest 5 levels deep into a dungeon. For the price this game is being sold at you'd be a fool not to give this game a try.

This game is a legitimate surprise to me, and I mean that in the best possible way. I was more or less expecting a one to one remake of the original "Rogue" and how wrong I was. So many quality of life improvements were made to this fantastic remake from actual graphics, to better controls, to even having a difficulty options menu for those not as hardcore. The core gameplay of the original "Rogue" stays pretty much the same, just in a first person perspective. Explore, kill monsters, loot. It's an addicting cycle that had be continuing to play repeatedly even after death.

The game looks beautiful with it's pixel art, and that visual is the cherry on top of this fantastic game. Overall this game is incredibly good, only held back by it's simplistic design due to it being a remake of the literal first "Roguelike" ever made which makes that forgivable. I personally can not wait for the next game release from this developer after playing this game, especially if it's a fully original Roguelike dungeon crawler.

This game for what it is, is very good. The game itself is incredibly short, with me beating it in under an hour. While for many games I would feel cheated out of my money, it's clear this game has so much heart put into it that it deserves the cash I gave it. It's a classic throwback to platformers on the N64 (obviously) and it's pulled off very well. Each level feels unique and they're all fun to explore, with the graphics having the same charm as any other popular platformer from the 90's had. The music is also absolutely incredible, with it being very clearly inspired by games like Banjo Kazooie.

While this game has many ups, it also has a couple of downs. The short length leaves me wanting more as I really enjoyed my time with what I got. Along with that I would have loved if there was more to the game when it came to the platforming levels. There are no enemies to speak of and you can't really die either. All you can to is move and jump, there is no attack button or enemies to avoid. That's a shame since I would have loved to see what enemies the developer could have come up with. Along with that some of the alternate gameplay styles are kind of lackluster. I liked the 2D segments but it really just made me want to go back to the 3D gameplay while I was going through them. The cart racing level was also very bare bones and felt almost out of place in this game since it's the only time you ever use that kind of gameplay.

Even though I have a few complaints I do very much recommend this game to anyone who wants an old school platformer just like how they were back in the day. If you've got the two bucks to spare then you should really pick this game up. I really hope the developer decides to make a sequel the size of a full on game in the same vain as Banjo Kazooie since I see massive potential here. I would absolutely love it if we ever got a Macbat 64 2 or even Macbat 65. Please support this game and give it a try.

So let me get this out of the way first. I'm going much easier on this game than say, Final Fantasy. There are multiple reasons for this such as the game having a lower budget, being made by not as experienced developers, and the game is only $0.99 at the most. So yeah if you guys think I'm going too easy on it then I'd say get over it.

Pros - The graphics and music are nice. The worlds aren't grey and lifeless, they have color and make me feel like I'm in an actual world rather than a dull boring game. The world is expansive with numerous places to go and different paths you could take. It's not linear, but not too non linear at the same time. I also love the fact that you can choose the main characters class at the beginning, it really makes me feel more involved in the gameplay factor rather than forcing me to be some generic warrior class in the entire game. Boss battles are also pretty fun since it cna sometimes get intense when one of your guys are about to be knocked out and you need to keep them alive since they might have a spell that's the enemies weakness.

Cons - While boss battles are fun, normal battles are a bit boring. They also happen way too much when it comes to random encounters. While the world is fine, the dungeons are not, since they are these way too large mazes that make you want to tear your hair out due to all the random encounters. The story is also pretty bad wiht a generic chosen one plot that makes no sense, but I can look past that. There are also some typo's in the game but they're not too bad.

Overall the game is a mixed bag for me. On the one hand I think the fact that this game is only $0.99 excuses it from some of its flaws like the plot and typo's, but flaws like random encounter rates and boring battles really drag this game down to painfully average. After I finish this game I will move on to Final Quest II and see if that game is any better. Trust me I hope it is.

So Atulos Online is a very mixed bag and I think that before you decied to get it you must take everything about the game into consideration before downloadin

Gameplay
The gameplay is very basic, yet fairly fun. All you really do is run up to enemy's and attack them with whatever weapon you have on hand. The way you move is also a little odd, since it's mouse controlled with no input from the keyboard at all. That isn't a bad thing, just something some people might have a problem with. You can also pick from 4 different classes which each of them having 2 sub classes. I would have liekd to see being able to customize your character though.

Story
The story isn't really explained in game, you have to go to their website in order to figure out what's going on. To give you the rundown of it, an evil king that ruled the land died and now his soul is enchanted or something. Apparently they also named the land after this evil king for some reason. The story is not all that good but it's not painfully awful by any means.

Community
This has to be one of the nicest community's I have ever seen. So many people are helpful and nice to new players and will give them advice. Usually the high level players are the ones seen doing this and that is very rare in MMO's since they usually like to "Pwn n00bs".

Graphics and Music
The graphics look alright, but they are not all that great. For me at least, I love the graphics since they have a very retro PC feeling to them, which I hope was the goal. The music is pretty forgettable though, and fairly generic.

Overall I think the pro's outweigh the con's. I really did enjoy this game and will keep enjoying it for a long time. Just make sure you know all the good and bad stuff before you downlead though.

This is a pay to win game. You earn WP so slowly that it will take ages to get any new equipment.

So the best comparison i can make to this game would be the ultima 6 & 7. It's very old school and it does not hold your hand.

PROS
- Great Story
- Cool World
- Interesting Characters
- Actual Depth

CONS
- Learning Curve
- Battle Mechanics (Sometimes)
- 5 AC To Attack

8/10

I'll give you the rundown of the Pro's and Con's of this game and if you should buy it or not.

Pro's:
This game has a decent atmosphere and an okay sound track. The creature chasing you is pretty creepy and the way you know he's close is a pretty good idea, you're flashlight starts flickering a little and so you know you need to get the hell out of there. Finding pages isn't that hard since you'll start hearing loud whispering when you come near one, it makes it a lot easier since it would just blend in witheverything else in the game. Graphics are nothing special but not ugly by any means.

Con's:
Now the level you go through is pretty bland and everything pretty much looks the same without any sense of progression. It's also very linear exept for the occasional choice in differing paths. The creature that's after you is creepy, but not scary. The game will eventually turn into "run away from monster and quickly pick up notes". He will not really scare you for about 98% of the game. The items you pick up are also pretty stupid like the axe you just leave behind after using it once. also at some parts you have to use particular items to continue, this will either cause you to back track a bit, or die to the creature chasing you.

Over all, I would only say buy this on a steam sale when it's under $0.30 since you really won't be losing that much money if you happen not to like the game.
This game gets a 6/10.
