Early Access Review
Friendslop.
In a good way, I think.
If you took Barotrauma and said hmmmmm how do we make this more approachable to the normie...
- remove ammo types, all guns share one ammo belt
- there's only Materia, no dedicated crafting materials
- no friendly fire
- no minigames for repairing, stuff just gets replaced
- you can zoop everywhere via slingshot-hook (also planned sliding movement)
- ship controls like a bumper cart in 3D space, insanely unrestricting turning/pitch, seemingly no collision damage
- no hunger, stamina or status conditions
- reloading recycles unspent ammo, doesnt waste it with the mag
- no hull integrity, remove obstacles by pressing a single button etc pp
- streamlined streamlined streamlined everything

All of this is critique but not necessarily negative; I feel this is a good example of friendslop that you can just boot up with your friends and have a great time with. Its not demanding you learn any janky behaviour or quirky controls nor any in-depth systems.
Personally I would prefer those, but I'm self aware enough to realize that this game isn't built for this and so I'm just gonna enjoy it for what it is: low-intensity borderlands-esque arcade gaeming.

The price is very fair. €15 would be better since its kinda barebones rn still (according to the roadmap at least), but €20 is quite alright a price. Good on you, devs

Abseits der Hysterie rundum "le Silksong wird endlich le veröffentlicht es ist le GOAT", welches freilich eine Menagerie an Stinos (Normies) angezogen hat, und seinen anteilsstarken Abschnitt Kontratenöre, die mit so Glanzrezensionen wie "ICH KANN DAS SPIEL NICHT SPIELEN WEIL HORNET EINEN ANDEREN TIEFSCHLAGANGRIFF HAT ALS HOLLOW KNIGHT" und "WTF WARUM MUSS ICH (genau wie in HK1) GELD SAMMELN UM KARTEN ZU KAUFEN DAS IST DOCH REINE WÄHRUNGSFARMEREI" (wenn man in Wahrheit jede Karte innerhalb von 30min zusammen hat ganz ohne aktiv nach Geld zu trachten, sofern man tatsächlich das Spiel spielt, erkundet und die herkulische Meisterleistung vollbringt, weniger als 50 mal pro Sekunde abzukratzen.) brillierten, ist Silksong -- soweit kann ich mich nach meinen 6h Spielzeit definitiv aus dem Fenster lehnen -- kein seidener Faden von HK1, keine desaströse Deviation vom althergebrachten Format noch eine unzugängliche Tortur journalistenfeindlicher Parkourelemente;

Impressive tech demo. Far too short for the price of €20 I must say. Crashes at random with propensity for cutscenes.
Gameplay is much sleeker and streamlined compared to TFU, although the jank hasn't been done away with. Huge issue is the relative invisibility of QTE inputs compared to TFU I, though its not debilitating for there's only two (boss) fights that heavily rely on them.
Story is shallow and doesn't do anything with Starkiller.
This is imo a DLC to TFU I. Worth playing due to its relatively small size of 9GB but absolutely wait for sale.

Absolutely amazing little title
One of the rare indie game gems which took me completely by storm. Finished the main campaign in one sitting and I loved it.
Phenomenally creative setting,& worldbuilding combining wizardry with tacticool elements. Good characters, decent storytelling, not-too-overtly handled politics (muh uprising against le fascism, but handled competently well and placed as a backdrop setpiece rather than doing any tired moral grandstanding on the matter, so a net positive overall despite it being a tired cliché) and nice character archetypes with different struggles to deal with. Some are told better than others, but none are done badly; I enjoyed them all.
The humor is pretty good, sometimes a bit too Millenial "cant take nothing serious"-snark, but its not overbearing at all, so I enjoyed.

The level design is fairly average, but I was surprised how many different mechanics you could use to make "your" way through most scenarios work. You can certainly choose your style of breach, and while it ain't terribly deep, its enough to put you in charge of the situation, and the frequent mix-and-matching of the different characters complements their skills so you're made to think about what you use when.
All in all a game I would absolutely and certainly love to see more of. Highly recommended

Verpasste Gelegenheiten bar jeden Vergleiches.

The very definition of "mindless fun"; very worth the roughly 10hrs I got outta this. I could in fact go for another 10 before getting bored. So at the very least, get it on discount, cause it'll easily fill you one, two or perhaps, if it really tickles your fancy, a couple more afternoons.

Fairly smooth gameplay with some hefty old-gen limitations. Think Prototype 1 AI and its limitations ("I cannot fathom the concept of another NPC vanishing right infront of me, but I WILL home onto your exact position with the precision of a guided missile despite not having any indicator of it!")
Its very fun blowing up 1950s Americans, who will interpret vanishing food stocks as a herald of the upcoming communism, while progressively getting more powerful at doing so. Weapons are neat if limited. AI controlling is pretty useless, sadly. The explosion range of the of the quantum deconstructor cannon tickles something very primate in me; again, apt comparison to Prototype 1's very basic but immensely satisfying gameplay.
It truly was a better time in terms of design.

to cut the rambling, 6/10, in terms of more realistic criteria, meaning where 5/10 is a perfect average; this game is above average. Not much, but a bit, and its worth checking it out.
I did not regret my purchase and if you're an equally retar.... rational guy like me, you won't either.

Now, if you'll excuse me,
I have to drown Americamechs in the NYC coastal sewage waters

CURRENTLY --> not worth it

There is a fantastic game burried beneath here, but the optimization is absolutely non-existant. My 4080 can't handle it and people with 4090s struggle too.
15 FPS with heavy tanks and spikes and visual artefacts.
You cannot lay prone anymore (why?)
Flesh takes two mags to kill, Poltergeist one grenade, 8 buckshots and two AR mags.

Those are the main issues I encountered thus far.
I will change this review as soon as possible to positive, but right now, don't bother *yet*

Edit: Halving the resolution allwed me to run it in 60-ish FPS.
I did have some fun. But the cons outweigh the pros currently.

Shot an Ukrainian into the head, didn't hit anything important, they just keep on fighting. Bad AI.
Very lacking in terms of originality regarding the use and design of anomalies.
Biggest upside is the large map and very good atmosphere. But right now, you're unironically better off playing a heavily modded Pripyat.

But I guess that's how games are nowadays. Disappointing.

Issue of Skill: Returns - idfk what I'm doing wrong but I seem no closer to ever beating the game than at the start. Gameplay is simple and sleek, music is a banger, difficulty drops harder than the frames. 7/10

Paid money for this. It adds more ways of interaction between puppets, satellites and their controlling nations, strengthening internal diplomacy.
PDX, after being told to be more consumer-friendly for years on end, now under heavy criticism to be less consumer friendly because Gamers©, a parasitic life form by nature, are crying salty tears because they paid €20 for this 700 years ago and now feel they deserve their money back. The money went into production of newer expansions, keeping the servers running and PDX' own greed pockets. The transactional purpose has been achieved. Stop being spoiled brats.

I'm looking forward to all these entitled crybaby reviews becoming obsolete as these DLC (which is the reason why they're being review-bombed currently) will be integrated into base game, most likely removing this DLC page entirely.

Cope and seethe, /v/eddit.
