Love it!

I love it so far!

The combat and exploration has been fun so far, and so has foraging for different ingredients to make delicious brews out of.

I would say the biggest drawback have been the AI voices. They don't sound natural enough to be convincing. Luckily you can turn them off if you'd like, but it would be nice to have an alternative, like animal crossing/banjo kazooie voices instead.

This is one of the games ever, one might even say it is THE game ever

Funny dinosaur game

This game is not for everyone.

If you enjoy slow paced single player games with small bouts of action, you will enjoy Book of Travels.

In my experience, there are some glitches. Such as, when getting off of a ferry and staying in the area the ferry brought you to, when the ferry departs, it will take you with you, back to the place you set off from. No matter if you were on it, or not. Or entering fights being inconsistent, making you think you need to unsheathe your weapon again, but in fact, you had just sheathed it since it was already out, but the animation wasn't playing.

These glitches, however, are fairly rare in common play, and the art style, sound design, music direction, world, and calm game play make up for it tenfold. Wandering through the Braided Shore is relaxing, engaging, and intriguing as you come across secrets, random encounters, and charming characters.

The combat is somewhat D&D based, in that, when you initiate a fight, the participants roll initiative to begin, then the longer you wait before striking, the higher chance you have of landing a hit. Combat is effected by how burdened, protected, or speedy your armor makes you. My only gripe so far is that when you dodge an attack when charging one of your own, your charge pauses and goes down a bit, but when you attack an enemy and they dodge, their charge continues going up smoothly. This seems minor, but when engaged in a close fight, it often puts your NPC opponent at a major advantage.

To reiterate, Book of Travels is not for everyone. But I'd say buy it, best case, you discover a charming game to play after an exhausting game, worse case scenario, you refund after the first two hours, or you support a small indie company with good ethics.
