What a Game
If I had the chance to play one game entirely blind all over again, I would choose Subnautica in a heartbeat. If you are even considering buying the game, *stay as spoiler free as possible* . Seriously, you'd regret having it spoiled. Subnautica is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I haven't been able to replicate the feelings I had on my first playthrough in any other media. Just know that it's one of the best exploration games ever conceived. This game constantly runs through my head, and has been doing so for nearly 6 years. Absolute masterpiece.

Let me be upfront and say that this game has quite a few problems. If you're willing to look past them, though, this game is really addicting. A few things you'll run into are bad zombie spawns on higher difficulties (nightmare, lethal), buggy physics, annoying mechanics (long looting times, repetitive required quests, forced waiting, long grind), half-baked co-op, and oh so many bugs. While this list is nowhere near complete, these are my main gripes with the game. I've been mainly negative with my review so far, but the game really is fun. It's addicting to first start off helpless and to have a bleak future, only to grow in power until your community becomes an unstoppable force. As an aside, start your first community on Dread mode or higher. Learning the ropes on a high difficulty will teach you really fast what you can and can't get away with. I say this, because after you learn what you're doing, it becomes insanely hard to die. Permadeath is a major factor in this game, and losing a beloved community member reminds you that everything that happens is your fault (or the game's failure). I've had a total of 3 community members die in my 100 hours of gameplay, and 2 were a fault of the game. All in all though, give this game a shot during a sale. There are some great moments that can be had. If you have a buddy to play with, drive into one another as often as you can. Sometimes you'll achieve spaceflight if you do it at the right angles.
