very enjoyable if you get past the steep learning curve. the game has improved a lot since i bought it like 6 years ago. development feels kind of slow but there is a good amount of polish and a considerable amount of content, just not really that much in the way of bosses (only really two big ones) and the main quest does not go very far at all. with what the developer intends in scope it seems like this game will definitely take at least 2-3 years to be in a more complete state but I have faith it will be excellent when it is finished.

one of if not the best modern traditional roguelikes in my eyes

good game, very solid graphics, art and level design. quite a lot of variety with different weapons and itemization of gear modifiers to make your own build.

don't really get the time gating of some mechanics (refining/smelting, upgrading town and daily/weeklies tied to real life days/weeks even though the game has it's own time with a day/night cycle, also i think vendors reset every real life day too rather than in-game days) but didn't really impact the experience, if you really care it isn't hard to just set the time forward on your computer and relaunch the game, i only did that once to get a new set of weeklies for some more plague ichor (permanent upgrade/more inventory space consumable thing)

bosses were kind of all too easy even on hardest difficulty besides caretaker who was very fun and required quite a few tries to eventually beat, although dodging his stupid windup big slam attack after killing tusk almost got annoying because
the delay before slam isn't consistent during his combos where he does multiple slams
, think i have a few more bosses to go and like 1 zone so not fully done but have a good idea with all content i've played through.

mouse + keyboard is not very good, but the game does like recommend to use a controller on launch and i'm fine with that.

most negative reviewers seem to be experiencing skill issues/complaining about time gating, i wouldn't let fair few negative reviews put you off if you are interested.

looking forward to 1.0.

Gomenasai, my name is Ken-Sama.

I’m a 27 year old American Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Persona series)

I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!

I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in Japan!

good game, very addictive, a lot of metaprogression.

great artstyle, good music (although the 1st level kind of has the best in the game with everything else following being competent and good but doesn't seem to go quite a hard)

there is a fun game where you play with your balls as well as the aforementioned metaprogression via a little town system.

haven't finished everything quite yet. getting the character that automatically plays the levels for you is kind of mixed to me, it is very cool and is effective at doing levels but at the same time it kind of ruins the game for me where I cannot even be bothered to actually play anymore and just end up sending the automate guy out with another guy and then putting the game in the background. maybe having him like post-game as a final character would have been better, because it has actually kind of ruined the game for me!

Very good game, could be better than Hollow Knight 1 but haven't played it enough to know for sure, Hornet is much more mobile than the protagonist of Hollow Knight, I initially did not like the diagonal down attack her default moveset has but after playing for a while I have came to appreciate this, it is fun to use this to traverse the world and in fights.

The game is undoubtedly far harder than Hollow Knight 1 and there are some longer runs back to to bosses but at least everything I have experienced so far has only taken like 30 seconds to get back into a boss arena after dying. Some bosses are quite difficult and punishing, taking away 2 life containers per hit, but learning bosses movesets has not been incredibly hard and has lead to gratifying victories that are not easily earned.

Maybe it gets harder with annoying/longer paths to take back to bosses after dying but I suspect a lot of the negative reviews are from players having major skill issues.

At $20 the game is great value.

My only complaint would be awful keyboard default controls and no mouse support for the UI (outside of escape/start menu), because it does feel a lot faster paced than Hollow Knight 1 a controller feels almost mandatory.

very short game but very acceptable for the price. i only ever relatively briefly idled, most of the time gameplay is active.

typical incremental game gameplay where number goes up, you buy more upgrades and get to new tiers and unlock new features. not much strategy required and completing the final goal in the game was not very hard in my experience after unlocking the final prestige tier, but it was still fun to complete

stylish minimal pixel art with nice animations.

i've only barely touched the story mode and do not really care for it but maybe there is something there, ive just never really gave it time and was probably burnt out after playing survival so much. the survival game here is very fun, it is relatively straight forward with only a few threats besides hunger/thirst/cold but there is a lot of explore with really nice art and a very atmospheric world (it has to be or you would be bored from all the walking around). i actually have like 100 hours played for perspective (steam is wrong)

the only thing i actually really hated was the trader, he is so incredibly tiresome to use due to only being able to trade at night under specific conditions and having to trek all the way across the frozen water to the trading spot then back to a phone to confirm and then back again to pick up whatever you requested. you have to do this multiple times to get reputation with the trader to get his quests to unlock higher tiers of gear and then once you get the quests you have to go to a specific type of bunker one at a time, then return that item to the single zone where the trader will trade.. i could go on but this was absolute agony to finish his quest line, what you get from it is ultimately very rewarding (some exclusive items including caffeine pills and heat packs which have huge utility) but i'd kind of prefer an easier way to trade (it doesn't have to be frictionless, just less time consuming) and some of his exclusive items distributed around the world (just the consumables, there's no reason why the trader is the only one in the world who has cereal and several other food), they can just be extremely rare and that would be fine

good game and good dlc
