The mark on Booker's hand is definitely a massive plot point, and the tears that Elizabeth opens aren't just a game mechanic. The first one opens up to a French theater playing Return of the Jedi, so they definitely reach through time.
I think Comstock is Booker, and was pulled backwards through a tear, that's how he knows so much about the future, how he knows so much about Booker, why he can claim he was at battles other people say he never participated in. If this is the ending, I'm disappointed because it's pretty transparent, and Infamous did it years earlier. Oh well, I'll continue playing tomorrow.
