This is a conditional thumbs up as of Season 5.

Currently the game is very fun for this style of game play. Blast through enemies watch loot explosions, rinse and repeat. I play Solo Self Found or Group Found in these kinda games these days, so my review is based on that kind of experience.

You see plenty of loot, plenty of it is bad, but I have not felt stuck a single time during the campaign. Loot is interesting enough on a regular basis that I'm always looking at drops, which is the main reason I play this style of game. I love to loot, I love to move fast and blast. As of this season HS delivers on this experience. I wish the same could be said for the most recent season of Torchlight Infinite, which they screwed up royally for SSF enjoyers and casuals alike.

Terraria, for me, is far better than other games of its type. It is by far and away an experience I keep coming back to time and time again, and I'm not even that fancy a builder. The combat always pulls me in, and the hidden story of the world you unfold as you defeat bosses is far deeper than anybody would expect out of a game like this.

I cannot really understand why I am drawn into playing this game. There is a ton of doing the same or similar tasks, like in any ARPG. I find that switching between playing in Pubs and playing with friend really provides a refreshing experience, as playing with skilled players makes a huge difference in how smoothly runs go. You do not have to play just with friends, I've made plenty of impromptu friends while pubbing, that are now making up a core group of people I play with in addition to friends I have brought over from other games.
