I am a huge fan of the gears universe, the compelling story telling and the horror survival esq vibes of the original trilogy did a very good job of drawing me into the game, and keeping my attention on a pinacle, seemed to be its utmost priority, this is not the case for GEARS5, i feel like the change in developers and overall direction in which the gaming industry is heading, gears of war is a franchise that has been lost in the shuffle, it no longer has the same feel as the original trilogy even tho its general gameplay mechanics and level design is still the same and somewhat nostalgic for older fans of the game coming back to this. I feel like the inclusion of the open world-esq parts of the story are not welcome here, its nice what they tried to do but it really affects the tempo of the game.
WHY DO I LIKE GEARS 5?
Even tho it is the least rated gears game for me, it is stilll a gears game that i love either way, you just have to take it for what it is, a game that was unique and a pioneer for the 3rd person cover based shooting genre, doesnt really feel unique, feel like they are just making a sequel to make some money on the franchise.
THE VERDICT
If you are a fan of gears or not, this game is definintely worth playing, altho my complaints are something rather OG gears of war fans will completely understand, players new to the series will have no idea what i am talking about. Nonetheless it is a solid campaign and visuals are amazing, the general vibes and atmosphere really had me. I do hope that there is a Gears 6 in the works somewhere and they improve upon the story aspect to deliver an experience which is in tune with the original trilogy.

I had always been a huge horror movie fan, coming from games like dead space and alan wake, i love the horror setting and always welcome the eerie, breathless, suffocating feelings, now waited a long time to play this game.
First attempt had me mauled by the npc, replayed got mauled again, and again, and again.
After two days of trying and countless hours of insomnia induced by this marvelous horror video game, i can safely say that i would love to this again.
11/10 will definitely be happy to get mauled again, sprinting in the dark with no battery or a flash light is just to good
