As an enjoyer of games with similar battle systems like Fangs, Battlerite, Bloodline Champions, and Omega Strikers to name a few, I have the benefit of coming in, while new, with some transferable skills.

Being said I decided to commit to playing one character to get the feel for the game, and that happened to be Myth.

Myth has a lot of bugs, and issues with the current dive meta / being less strong over the abyss but there are fun moments.

The thing that honestly sours the experience is the fact that it's a BR (is what it is), but mostly that there is RNG to unlock the gear for the BR, and a whole Gacha system with stars and everything. The only caveat is that it's not p2w (yet). Luckily there is an Arena mode but you don't get any progression materials or cool stuff playing in the Arena. Which is confusing when it's definitely the game mode better designed for this type of combat system, you'd think they would want people to play that too.

I've seen a lot of similar games die for making similar mistakes on their launches, and I don't want to see this go the same way but I don't honestly think that the Armory is condusive to that. It's an extra barrier to entry in a competitive game, not a fun time sink that they may think it is. I almost forgot - but level locking things like custom games and...executions? Where's the logic there. The level system thing is bad and should feel bad.

Maybe I'm too much to ask for a game like Battlerite that doesn't get stuck with a developer who drops the ball? We'll see anyways, here's hoping the new people stay around, my self included. Not recommended right now, until the Armory is addressed among other balancing issues. Fix Myth.

Either you'll be good, or be patient enough to get good.

Great game for anyone new or old to souls-likes considering it's open world, you are almost never barred from making progress. That open-endedness could of course be a downside for some, in which case you can b-line for main story content.

Play however you prefer, and have fun. It'll be worth your time.
