It's interesting how the narrative perception changes after you view scenes and then return with new information. I imagine some descriptions are missable depending on what you see first. The game changes your player character's perspective (and influences your own) based on how you react to the world via the yes/no decisions.

However, the reason for my Thumbs Down review is the endings involving self-harm. Especially the descriptive nature of the one involving the bath. That made me feel uneasy and sick.

For anyone reading this: If you feel you're in emotional distress, please know there are people and services that can help you.

A charming and fairly quick puzzle game. I remember playing the original Samorost back in 2005 as a Flash game on JayIsGames.com, so I'm happy to experience that same charm again. Something quirky and quaint to distract yourself with for about an hour.

Verdict: Skip this and play Redux.

I haven't played the Redux version yet, but I can guarantee it's a more enjoyable experience than this. If you are just here for the story, you might be fine, but if you are an achievement hunter: Plan ahead and use a guide.

The Issues:
The FOV is frustratingly small. It might add tension during mutant ambushes, but otherwise, it's just a nuisance. Also, you may find yourself stuck on the environment (specifically the elevator in Dead City, just keep trying). I came back specifically to 100% the achievements; I succeeded, but I was sick of the game long before the last unlock.

Tips (If you ignore my advice):

• Extra Money: In the Armory level, run back and forth trading weapons offered by "Blacksmith" to exploit a cash increase.
  
• Explorer Achievement: If you are thorough about looting secret areas, this should unlock by the middle of the Outpost level.

Final thoughts:
If I had anything positive to say, it would be that some of the idle animations are neat, but you can watch those on YouTube. Honestly, reading the book would likely be more fun than 100%ing this version.

I am thrilled that this game has come to be and I'm looking forward to the updates! I would be very excited if they were to bring back the heroes from the last game.

If you're looking for war, then look no further.

This puzzler has charm in how simple it's style is, but, you'll find the puzzles aren't always as simple. The minimalistic tones, both in visuals and sounds, I find to provide a rather calming experience. If you're looking for a different type of puzzle with a little bit of zen to it, I suggest giving LYNE a try!
