Definitely doesn't feel like this is a complete game. There aren't even death animations for enemies or real transitions from screen to screen, just a jarring instant switch to rewards after playing a card that would end the battle.

Story is the same as any other generic open-world RPG. Found myself skipping through all the lines of dialogue because none of it mattered. The relationships built during the story hardly hold up and you end up not caring at all what happens to anyone. Your 'shaping the world' aspect is literally just choosing one faction out of the two available, which adds some minor enhancements to the city.

I don't know who made the decisions regarding the crafting design, but they should be fired. It is just finding random weapons and adding the same mods over and over again, only upgrading the mods after grinding out tokens from infected. Often you won't even be able to add mods because the weapons won't have slots.

Edit: Developers are pretty responsive when it comes to common issues like this. Appreciate the hard work and dedication to your craft. That said, I do enjoy the game quite a lot. The combat is relatively smooth and the enemies are challenging (Triply so when you increase the intensity). Pretty addicting game and I'll likely put more hours in to get the true ending. I'm not sure if it was a design decision or not enough funding, but I feel the game would definitely benefit from voice acting. I find myself just skipping through all the conversations with the townsfolk and it just becomes a grind to get their relationships up.


Original: Don't Alt-f4 from the main menu after quitting out of a run (After completing a level and going to the next - As stated that is where the save will occur) to avoid the secondary "Join our discord" popup or your 3 hour run will just be straight up deleted. The one run I had complete confidence I would beat the game was lost.

Early Access Review
I would give the game a "Meh, needs improvement" if that was an option, but I'll lean toward the better side because I did enjoy the overall feel of the combat and environment. That said, the leveling system of the reapers, combined with the leveling requirements of skills, makes the game incredibly tedious if you want to try a different build. Essentially if you want to try a new skill in your already maxed character and a build around it, you need to restart from the lowest stages of the endgame and grind for hours on end to get to the point where the reaper and skills you want to use are leveled enough to be viable to even test your idea. The hours on end of grinding with the ~3 different areas makes the game overly repetitive, but I'll give it credit since it's in early access. Looking forward to future content updates and full release.

I shouldn't have to be connected to their server to play single-player. Anytime I do get to play I'll end up getting a connection error halfway through a mission and then have to repeat the whole thing when I can get back online in however many hours it takes them to fix the servers this time. How can you not prep your servers for launch weeks with auto-scaling and failovers??

Edit: Gameplay is solid now that the servers are stable. Comparable to Remnant with the intensity. Lots of ways to customize your build. 8/10

Expansion for npcs is too little, too late. There doesn't appear to be anything truly unique about the game. It's just Fallout 4, but you're forced to play multiplayer or pay a subscription fee to play single player??? One thing that drives me absolutely nuts about the game is that when you load in anywhere there's a few second delay where you can see everything and can't move. Also, if you are ads with a bolt action and fire a shot while still holding ads, it will not return to it once you're ready to fire again so you have to release your ads button and then push it again. (apparently this is only with the bolt action pipe) That's a basic functionality of fps these days, wtf happened?? Regretting my decision to buy the game after being enticed by the 'free' expansion. Should have read the reviews first.

Combat is a one trick pony. Keep clicking the attack button, dodge if you want to try to escape the buggy enemy attacks, and just wait for your companions to kill everything. There really isn't anything interesting about the skills, abilities, and talents besides the fact you need some to access certain areas, which is frustrating if you didn't initially spec into them. Your spells and attacks don't really get any better and half of your skill points are wasted on unnecessary nodes. Essentially a running sim when you are doing quests and the monsters you fight are all the same besides the bosses.
