A step-down from Elex when it comes to almost everything:
Factions are far less interesting than previous game and more generic/less unique.
Characters are butchered (Jax what they did to you my boy)
Story, world building and world cohision/logic.
No import of choices. Could have just left vague choices made in previous game but instead you went with canon choices. Either have import, or don't have it at all.
Story never got everywhere; it just set up Elex 3, so you better not drop the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ball with it Pyranha Bites.
Drinking elex/dark-elex has no consequences unlike Elex 1 which steered your morality according to lore.
There are leftover, glaring bugs such as duplicate of dialogue option in the literal first hour of the game, the final 2 chapters of the game seem like they're still in alpha (even tho the game's released for more than 1 year)

What did it improve upon?
Combat, jet-pack, women no longer have one face. Some graphical improvements, but the lighting is odd. I played it for 84 hours so I cannot leave a negative review but if it was the option, I'd put mixed. Better step up Pyranha Bites with Elex 3 or I'll be done.

In my opinion, third best-game ever produced by PB. Combat is janky yes, but those that complain about it and difficulty quite simply need to...
Git gud.
Hand-crafted world (both designed, and world-building), factions, and people that are placed logically.
Quests can be approached differently and have different outcomes. Lots of choices & consequences.
Combat gets better with experience of player, and skills of Jax to the point of me loving it.
Story's engaging with many twists and unexpected turns.

The only thing that really annoyed me was one face shared by every woman in-game.

This mod achieved what Piranha Bites tried and failed to do since Risen 1; make a damn good game. It is an expansion of Gothic 2, a professionally done game. Only in several moments did I remember this was a mod--easter eggs that broke my immersion such as reference to Star Wars, or lines copied directly from previous Gothic titles. I rolled my eyes at them, but in 60 hours it amounted to less than 2 minutes, so no biggie.

The story is serviceable for the game-play, it has a wide cast of characters that they spend sufficient time on and made me care enough about to check up on them. There were quite a few plot-twists in the game itself, which was a welcome surprise.

The game-play itself is Gothic 2 ++++ If you like chocolate, this is a chocolate cake. It does everything it did but better.

My only real criticism is the cinematic-deaths; certain choices lead to your character getting killed instantly with no regards to your skill/power-level, which is a very weird design choice especially since none of the Gothic games ever did it. I recall several instances of getting randomly killed by a NPC and then once their cinematic-power was removed and you were okayed by the story to kill them, they'd die in one hit.

The other complaint is of course regarding the NPCs itself being immortal. Far too many of them especially when it comes to inconsequential NPCs, which runs against the Gothic motif.

Minus the cinematic-deaths and immortal NPCs, it is 60+ hours of solid fun with only one crash and bugs in single digit, which is more than what I can say about most triple A titles released. Good job.
