McDonald's Cheeseburger is, for better or worse, really (with McDonald's Hamburger) the original modern fast food burger made quickly in an assembly line process for a uniform, profitable product. The formula remains simple: a beef patty, American cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard on a soft hamburger bun.

I've always preferred McDonald's Hamburger to their Cheeseburger, the flavor is mostly the same but the American just overpowers the relatively small and thin beef patty and I feel more like I'm eating cheese than beef. One of the things I don't like about McDonald's cheese (as with a lot of fast food joints) is that it doesn't melt enough or rather they don't melt it enough because they don't cook the cheese on the patty but add it later instead.
