An absolutely incredible experience, from beginning to end. And somehow, the DLC, Echoes of the Eye, has only made it better. There's some rough patches here and there, but my complaints are so miniscule they might as well not even exist.

Thank you, Mobius Digital, for Outer Wilds.

This is a fantastic game. It is extremely fun and challenging, with loads of content and things to achieve.

The game is based off of the original binding of issac, which was written in flash. Flash isn't exactly the best language for a game this large, and thus, it was ported over to another language. Upon launching the game, you can immediantly feel the difference between games.
Due to the largeness of the original game, the engine it was built on could barely handle it. It was prone to freeze, and you would have fps drops everywhere. In this game, that is completely removed, with a redesigned engine that's much more efficent. You hardly ever have moments in this game where the framerate drops.
The game controls extremely well. The controls are responsive and fast. If you get hit by an enemy, you feel as if it was your fault, rather than the game's fault (usually).

Sometimes, the game isn't fair. There are several rooms that you may come across where enemies are placed in extremely obnoxious and almost un-avoidable places. Sometimes, you'll have to take a hit, and it's pretty much unpreventable.
The game is also heavily RNG based, and practically everything is randomly generated. This can make the game feel unfair at times, as you'll sometimes get the worst items one after another, and before you know it you're dead because you didn't have enough damage or life to fight off a boss.
Certain enemies are also very dangerous, and very hard to avoid. So much so that you almost always have to take a hit from them. One such enemy that is incredibly annoying is the "lump". When it spawns, it will almost immediantly shoot at the player, and then afterwards duck underground. It will then randomly appear somewhere near the player. What makes this enemy annoying, is that it can sometimes pop up right underneath the player - this makes the damage caused by it unavoidable! I don't believe this is its intended design, and it may be a glitch, but it doesn't stop it from being extremely annoying.

The game is played best, at least in my opinion, with the xbox 360 controller. Playing on the keyboard is much harder, I believe, and your hands can cramp up from pressing the close-together buttons.

This is, in my opinion, one of the must-play games on steam. It's incredibly fun to play, and I guarentee you'll play it for hours. I know I have; I've owned this game for about two weeks now and I've played it over 100 hours.
While it has its problems, I definitely think that the positives outweigh the negatives.
