The game isn't bad. It's actually pretty good - until the endgame. I'd recommend playing through the story once and experiencing it, in fact. It's free to play and a fun for a couple weeks.

It's a pseudo open-world PvPvE game loosely based on STALKER where you progress through tiers of equipment by bartering materials that you can farm in different zones. Players of the opposing faction can attack you in these zones but the map is split roughly 50/50 so you'll be safe most of the time, and you're split up into gear-based brackets. BUT. The final tiers of upgrades are all timegated harshly.

With premium membership you can obtain 16 serums per week through daily and weekly tasks, and a Master Tier weapon or armour requires roughly 55 of them. You can obtain more through PvP activities like Clan Battles (which require a clan and they are heavily rigged, with one clan paying the others to lose) and Session Battles (instanced PvP, but the maps are not balanced and there is no matchmaking - meaning you will be fighting unkillable tanks with the best equipment outside of the rotating event mode).

The game is also very punishing to solo players in the final endgame zones, with some being complete free for alls and others forcing you to do specific tasks that everyone else can see on the zone map before being able to leave the area. But even then, there's no reason to go to these zones outside of barter materials for specific gear or the chance to have better odds at finding good Artifacts.

There is however one way to bypass the timegated barter material grind and get your hands on some Master tier gear. Loot boxes! With horrible odds! You can open literally thousands of them and still not have a piece of gear!

See, the non-barter gear is split up into blueprints - #1, #2, #3 and #4 - and they have corresponding rarities in some cases. I have opened probably about 1500 cases through playing the game normally and buying some from other players via auction house, and I still do not have a single piece of gear to show for it. I'm missing 1 blueprint from each item - it's horrifically FOMO and the studio knows it. It's why they spit out so many free cases through an endlessly looping battle pass system.

I really like the game, but the systems completely kill it for me. Logging in each day, doing my daily task and logging out again because there's nothing to do besides mindless PvP that isn't really even fun most of the time. Until the game gets more content I'm probably done with it because I don't even know why I'm farming these timegated materials any more. So I can wait another month for a new item?

One of the most refreshing BR's in a long time, and has managed to make 3rd Person somewhat balanced with the maps verticality and flanking opportunities playing a huge role in fights.

The only issues so far are some launch bugs, server issues and melee being a little too strong due to life-steal.
