Open world with Iron Man flying suit style jetpack traversal? I'm in.

Update 11 hours in: still enjoying the gameplay and the beautiful world they've created but have taken the decision to skip literally every line of dialogue and cutscene.

Short but fun melee only FPS (FPM?) - really liking the level designs.

Oh and it also has the best mighty boot implementation since Dark Messiah of Might and Magic so if you enjoy sneaking up behind enemies to kick them off ledges (or running up front on to Sparta kick them off) then this is definitely the game for you.

The game itself is enjoyable enough but I absolutely love the dark cyberpunk world and atmosphere they've created and illustrated.

Weirdly this game gives me PoP Lost Crown vibes and I loved Lost Crown. Looking forward to digging in further to see how far the similarities go.

This is pretty good!

Wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this but it reminds me in a good way of classic Telltale games. They also really nailed the Star Trek vibe.

While the mini games and QTEs are a bit clunky, overall they don't detract too much from the story.

4 beam me up Scotties out of 5.

It's a fun turn based tactical deck builder / puzzle fighter. The fights play out as puzzles that you have to solve with the cards at your disposal.

There's also replayability here if you're the type to revisit the same scenarios with the alternate decks.

For context I picked this up at 75% off and beat my first run 10 hours in, totally worth it at that price point IMO.

To me this seems a little bit simpler/easier compared to Shadow Tactics but still pretty good, would recommend. RIP Mimimi, booooooo.

Edit: Having played further and unlocked more crew it's not actually simpler or easier per se, it largely depends on which crew you unlock or bring along per mission - some combos are much easier than others. The variety of crew abilities available lets you pick a play style that you like best and also mix it up if you like. Pleasantly surprised. Also to re-emphasise: RIP Mimimi, booooooo.

Was enjoying this right up to Blood Lake and the Forbidden Archives. One of those levels alone would be enough to make me question playing any further, one after the other was a quit and do not go back for me.

Summary:

Even after 47 hours I'm still compelled to come back and see what's next. Owlcat have done a great job with this. Despite not being the biggest 40K fan for me this is a great CRPG, reminds me in many ways of Baldur's Gate 1 & 2.

Pros:

Beautifully illustrated worlds.
Fantastic writing.
I love the music.
Excellent voice acting when present, which is generally only for main characters and then only in main path sections of dialogue.
Loot is varied enough to keep things interesting.

Cons:

Combat against standard enemies can feel a bit repetitive but this is a gripe I have with most turn based CRPGs.

Levelling up, with the many ability options and detailed skill effects, feels like cramming to take an exam. This was alleviated a little when I realised you can mark favourites with a star and just use those for future level ups rather than reading it all again. Happily you can also reset your characters at any time if you later decide you chose poorly. The upside is if you're playing on normal difficulty you really don't need to min max. Additionally just picking the auto-recommended options offers good enough choices (I didn't though) and by now there are plenty of build guides online if you're overwhelmed by the choices.

Verdict:

This is my first Owlcat game and I wasn't sure what to expect even though I've heard the Pathfinder games are good - overall I'm finding it surprisingly great.
