The game is similar to the Megaman/X/Zero series in terms of format, and familiarity, although it does quite a lot to separate it from a direct comparison and stand on it's own.

Levels were well designed, and seem catered to easy mastery for speed running, as well as the bosses being unique and fun to figure out. The game offers bursts which act as super moves, that can be chained together to quickly take down bosses, and chips that provide passives and actives that can alter game play. both of which can be set on load outs and changed on the fly.. Recently they added color pallets that give you boss abilities, which offer an extra layer of customization, all of which adds interest to keep playing and experimenting.

The game is well worth playing again and again, as either New game+, or trying challenge runs for the achievements. Adjustable difficulty does affect the boss move list, and makes it worth stepping onto hard mode to challenge yourself once you're familiar with the game.

I'll say that the game is generally solid and will fill an itch for those whom enjoyed NES era games, notably Castlevania and Zelda 2. It also attempts to have replay value with multiple endings, and having a good/evil side play through, however it wasn't enough to entice me to play again, notably since it's missing NG+ options to carry over some of the grinder elements.

There are also some frustrations carried over from the NES era that I wasn't pleased with, notably death pits with enemy placement made to make certain areas more aggravating then needed, dungeons that have locked door dead ends after a few rooms, to force you to back track into rooms where enemies have respawn, and just a generally lack of direction. I won't say the game is bad, but these elements also tied to multiple ending on completely different playthroughs, with nothing carrying over really sours the experience for me.

I didn't find it a fun experience overall. I've enjoyed titles Arkane Studios has made in the past, however this one became repetitive, and not engaging quite early on.

The AI is the worst I've encountered in any modern game, with stealth breaking it even more. There were never really any interesting combat scenarios, and the powers in this game were similar enough to others from their previous titles. The game also tries to treat itself like a "looter shooter", however I never felt impressed with any the loot, or felt that it changed my game play with the exception of silenced weapons.

I wouldn't hold out for DLC to improve this game, I'd just get Prey or Dishonored first if you want something similar and haven't tried either. Prey's Moon Crash DLC is more or less a prototype of this game, and I found a much better experience.

This last entry in the Light series is a mix of the previous two titles. Save the Light is probably the better game overall in the series, but this one isn't a slouch. It's a bit surprising since this was originally a mobile game, but appears it had some large updates post release to flesh it out and extend it.

Combat is turn based once again, however with new character options, and some reworked moves, it feels fresh. They're level based similar to Attack the Light, where you'll end up wanting to do "one more" level, and end up spending an extra hour into the game. About a 20 hour game to 100% casually.

Not as story driven as Save the Light, but a decent conclusion to the series. You don't have to be a Steven Universe fan to enjoy this, game can stand on it's own, however the story doesn't explain itself for people jumping onto the series at this point, nor does it really remind of you of previous story beats. Not to say this isn't a love letter to fans of the show, it's just Gameplay comes first over story and context.

Majority of this game is good, and I would say the gameplay to gameplay moments are great. However I do have some general gripes with the game.

Combat is similar to "South Park Fractured But Whole" as the closes comparison. Other example would be a mix of Megaman Battle network series + Timed hits from early Paper Mario. Missing these timed hits can be very punishing, but there is an accessibility function to make the combat easier for yourself if you're struggling.

One of my general grips comes into character selection, it feels as though later characters are for more powerful/useful then the first half. I do think all character are usable, but the amount of options some characters have over others doesn't feel perfectly balanced. Another gripe is character stats and boosts, it's hard to tell how much advantage they are generally giving you, especially speed, when it comes to turn order.

Story is quite interesting, and kept me hooked through most of the game. I would also mention that there quite a bit of LGBTQA+ characters, and certain story moments can feel contrived from their inclusion, but overall handled well.

Only other gripe I had is with a gem collecting side quest, there isn't a in game hint system on where any of these 40 gems can be, so if you missed one and you're at the end of the game, it can be very tiresome to find which one you missed.

I still think the game is worth playing despite all my minor gripes with, it's around 20-25 hours to 100% complete the game.. probably less with a walk through, and generally fun throughout

Picked up this game after watching a friend play, and it ended up eating my weekend completely.

This is by far one of the best Metroidvania style games I've played.

It does so much right, that i'm left with minor nitpicks as far as anything negative.
