Preface: I haven't experienced any performance issues, stutters, or crashes.
24GB VRAM, running NVIDIA driver 572.60

I felt like story/exploration was a bit lacking with this one... but I still enjoyed the fights.

Main gripe is same as every other monster hunter title: multiplayer feels disjointed. That being said, once you get into a rhythm, it's alright- just don't expect to jump from main quests to hunts to field explorations smoothly when playing with friends.

drop in, crush non-Tarkov players, profit

EDIT: After completing the first map and going onto the second, my view of this game has shifted entirely. The blatant use of cheats (wall-hacks primarily) is insane. Second map is filled with nothing but cheaters running around for high tier loot, and there are extensive youtubers covering this much more in depth. Anti-Cheat in this game does not exist, and the developers pretty much said that they couldn't be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with to implement it or deal with the level of cheaters this game has been seeing.
Being shot through multiple bushes and foliage from 300+ meters away, shot at from behind walls after remaining silent (only for the cheaters to realize they're shooting a wall, then sprinting after you to turn the corner and land immediate multiple consecutive headshots on you).
Basically every raid I've played on the second map boils down to that.

Honestly, with such a poor anti-cheat in place, the devs need to get on it. If they continue to say that they can't be bothered to implement a better system, then let this game die.

Graphics and overall aesthetic are cool. Game is garbage. No VoIP in a game that's supposed to be team oriented, there are way too many things you should be doing at once across a map that's pretty large, so it's as if the developers don't exactly know what they want out of gameplay. Also, the engine is very poorly optimized, and you can expect framerate drops even with a current gen cpu and a RTX 2080. Looks like a cool game, feels like every other free, poorly designed, and non-optimized indie game available on steam.

Early Access Review
Honestly, the game feels fairly balanced compared to most games of the same category. I see many people complaining about certain mechanics, or saying X is broken because Y, but I don't feel it at all. Wins come fairly easily, but it seems many people have skewed opinions on the win condition of the game. Escaping does NOT mean you win.
I have Poacher (H) and Inked (S) up to Duo-Aspirant, so I figured it's time to write a review.

The Good
  • Scavs who try to play passively are hurt by the rewards they receive. Escaping only gives the player 1,000 EXP, which is equal to ~10 blood being collected. This separates players who know how to play the game from players who try to play it like Dead By Daylight.
  • Audio queues are fantastic and give off just enough information. They aren't too overbearing.
  • Different maps allow dust to be shown under players feet, so invisibility isn't entirely busted. As for the maps that don't, a lot of the brush in the maps have audio queues when scavs step into them.
  • On the same subject, the Scav abilities work just well enough to give you a fair chance at escaping the hunter- with their medium to long range weapons and increased speed- and they aren't as bad as many people make them seem.
  • The Hunter abilities seem to play off of the impatience of the Scavs, so if you get your down multiplier up and start killing them off, you create a sense of urgency, and they become careless.
  • The ragdoll mechanic is amazing. It's really slept on, as you can probably tell by the amount of people complaining about instant executions, being thrown off of the map, or instant revives, but trust me it's a lifesaver. If you believe you're about to die, and you can angle yourself just right, it makes the difference between taking a huge L, or living to collect more resources.
  • On the same note, Hunters who are aware of the ragdoll mechanic must pick the right angle approach someone from. The wrong move could mean a Scav is picked up by their teammate's healing ability, or they get tossed off the map and you lose out on EXP/rewards.

The Not So Good
  • The game seems to have a few of the same bugs as Dead By Daylight. In one instance, I got into a lobby as Hunter that already had a Hunter playing. The game checks for 5 Scavs to start, however, so the timer didn't begin and we just had to leave the lobby.
  • At least once a day, if I'm playing with a party, we will get thrown into different games. Not really sure how this happens.
  • Scavs who leave a game are not punished, even though it puts their entire team at a disadvantage. Most times, it forces the team to play passively, which reduces the overall EXP and rewards you get from the match. Feels like a waste of 8 minutes.
  • If the Hunter leaves the game, the Scavs are still rewarded a decent amount of points. However, if all Scavs leave the match, the Hunter doesn't gain much of anything.

All in all, I'm really enjoying this game. I hope that the devs don't ACTUALLY break anything because of the sheer amount of people who are complaining about kinda dumb things. I'm able to pickup wins (a win being a badge, whether it be Scav Domination or Hunter Domination) consistently, yet the people complaining are (I believe) comparing it to other games or are just down right bad at playing.
Anyhow, I'll see you in the Deathgarden!

Free to play, fast paced, clean experience.
I can see this quickly becoming one of my favorite games to play to pass time. Brings me back to playing Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid. The auto duel feature in between PvP and gate duels is absolutely wonderful. Deck building is easy, the whole setup is pretty straight forward. The game itself is very snappy and responsive, unlike trying to run the app on a few emulators.
Overall, this is a great PC port of an existing phone application, and the fast paced nature of the game drew me in pretty quickly.

This game was incredibly fun for me all the way through. I love how fast-paced everything is. Levels zoomed by and my hours went up before I knew it. Great gameplay, edgy storyline, I dig it.
