Initial impressions are this is a fairly decent CCG. The fact that it ties in with a physical card game and you can scan in the physical cards for the digital version is pretty cool. Wish MTG did that for Arena. The game is a little confusing to start out with since it plays differently from traditional CCGs and the tutorial was extremely basic. It did a poor job of explaining things in detail but I'm figuring it out as I go. Seems to have a decent way of earning cards without paying real life cash.

The interface needs work and overall the game looks a bit ugly, but it's early days. Hopefully they'll continue polishing it. It's free to play so no reason not to try it (I'm staring at you, Artifact).

It's not all bad, but it plays more like a halfway decent fan game some guy made with Game Maker in his spare time than a product made by professionals and being sold for money. If you liked the old NES Double Dragon games there is stuff here you'll like, but it's pretty bare bones with bugs that haven't and will never be fixed. To give you an example of how lazy of an effort this is, the devs didn't even bother to program in a way to exit the game. You have to press Alt + F4 or close the window itself in windowed mode (and you have to press Alt + Enter to even toggle fullscreen). Aspect ratio in fullscreen can be off if you're not playing in 16:9. There's also a random bug that can erase your save data forcing you to unlock everything all over again so you have to make backups to be safe.

The hit boxes are inconsistent. Sometimes you'll have no problems hitting enemies, then other times it feels like you can't hit them at all if there's even a couple pixels difference between you and them vertically. It's very picky about you being on the same horizontal plane in order to land hits, moreso than any other beat em up game I've played, though I can't recall if the NES games were as bad so maybe it's just my memory.

If it's on sale for dirt cheap you can have fun for a few afternoons here and there, especially if you have friends that can play couch co-op with you, but it's short lived. Lack of any online multiplayer especially kills replay value. I wouldn't buy it full priced even though it's only $6.99, it's still not worth it.

Another retro beat em up that didn't deliver. So far I've also been underwhelmed by Double Dragon Neon and River City Ransom Underground. Here's hoping Streets of Rage 4 is good, but history is not on my side when it comes to retro remakes in this genre.

Downvoting this because it's pretty stupid to make a feature a DLC and one time use on top of that. I guess back up your save game before you use it in case you change your mind. Better than not giving you the option at all, but pretty ridiculous really. Zero reason why this shouldn't be a feature in the game itself. It's also pretty stupid it won't let you change your name, because if you're changing the character's gender you might not want to keep the old name.

Game works fine for me on my i5 3570K and 1070. Easily average 60 fps with volumetric fog turned off. Multiplayer has some hiccups but nothing that can't be ironed out. Works well with my Xbox controller.

I was sent on a mission to kill a giant dodo bird. Beat on it until it limped away making pitiful noises. Felt awful as I put it out of its misery and carved it up for parts.

10/10 would be traumatized again.

Imagine if Counter-Strike and Unreal Tournament got married and had a baby with a severe learning disability. Now, throw that baby out the window and get a divorce. This is what Masked Shooters 2 is like.

10/10 Best 49 cent achievement farming simulator I ever bought.

A very short but fun little trip back to the Half-Life universe. Atmosphere is dark and really well done. Also really easy to get 100% acheivements if you care about completion percentages. Would be nice if they made it longer but it's a free mod so can't complain.

I bought it on sale for the price of a candy bar.

Pros: More entertainment than a candy bar. You can only use a candy bar once, this game stays in your library forever.
Cons: Not as chocolatey.

Conclusion: Nice time waster worth the price of a candy bar. Unless you're starving, then buy the candy bar.

Quake's 20th anniversary is here and I started playing the singleplayer campaign again. I played Quake when it originally released and it still holds up today. Quake's legacy might be its multiplayer, but Quake 1's campaign is great. It's all about the creepy atmosphere. It's not a game where you quickly mow through legions of demonic creatures. It involves exploration and some minor puzzle solving (mostly just finding keys or pressing a panel to open a wall, etc). You're wandering around a dark, subterranean castle-like environment which is in stark contrast to the sci fi settings of the sequels. This is by far the best setting out of the Quake series and I wish they'd do a modern take on the original setting, instead of all the sci fi Strogg nonsense that came after it. None of them captured the eerie horror setting and atmosphere of the original which is a shame. There is a basic story and lore to the game you can read about, but its not really presented in the game. You don't need to read anything to enjoy the game though. Similar to how Doom had a basic plot, but the game itself just involves you navigating levels and shooting stuff.

You must play this game with the Ultimate Quake Patch installed. It restores Trent Reznor's (of Nine Inch Nails) original soundtrack which was a creepy atmospheric masterpiece. To play the game without it is doing yourself a serious disservice. In addition to the soundtrack, it adds support for new resolutions. I personally don't think it needs any high res texture pack, playing it at a higher screen resolution is enough. It might look primitive by today's standards but id Software did a superb job with the limitations they had at the time.

Multiplayer is all but dead. While servers still exist, good luck finding anybody to play with. I had loads of fun with the multiplayer when the game was new, the Headhunters mod was particularly entertaining. You're not going to be playing this game today for the multiplayer, but for its singleplayer where it really shines.

Goats. And more goats. Threw a guy into the path of a car with my tongue and watched him fly off into the horizon. Bounced an 18 wheeler on a trampoline in a pool. Sent a car down a water slide and watched it plow through the bodies I piled up at the bottom. 10/10

Good Diablo style game. Free to play with no restrictions or pay to win items. They continually add tons of new content and improve the game.
