Fallout 4 Review

Before reading
This review is based on my second mildly modified playthrough of Fallout 4 alongside with all of the DLCs.
Like many others, I also was initially disappointed with Fallout 4. To be more specific, it was a mixed bag. Unlike others who were mainly disappointed with the “lack” of RPG elements, dialogue system or the feeling of lacking choice. This didn’t bother me to be honest. I personally at the time hated the casual gameplay and some of technical problem and shortcomings. In short I couldn’t really enjoy Fallout 4s gameplay, and other peoples negativity also got to me. Admittedly Bethesda’s marketing strategy and hype did set the bar very high leading to a lot of disappointment.
This august after I had my PC upgraded, i started my second playthrough of Fallout 4 with a more positive attitude. All i can say is that, it’s been a one hell of a ride.

Story and Quests

The main plot didn’t really disappoint, mainly because I didn’t expect much of it. To me in the end it wasn’t half bad, I got what I expected. Most of the main story quest were good, it definitely had some memorable moments, difficult choices and the total length of the story wasn’t too bad. As for side content and quests, which were usually good but often hard to find. Radiant quests in Fallout 4 had a large role which annoyed many, including me. While ignoring radiant quest, you can easily get around 80hours of quality content out of Fallout 4. The highly criticised voiced protagonist and the new dialogue system didn’t bother me, which did undoubtedly pose problems. But to me they were welcome changes, which felt like taking one step back and two steps forward.

Gameplay

Gameplay probably features the biggest changes and improvements of the Fallout series. Improvements can be found from various aspects of the game, from combat, exploration, crafting and character building. Compared to Fallout 3, the combat is much more responsive, faster and dynamic. Enemy variation is amazing in Fallout 4 and it was often surprising to see new features and abilities added to already known enemy types. Crafting is one of the biggest and greatest part of Fallout 4. As soon I saw the new crafting system of Fallout 4 in E3, I knew it was gonna be great and sure wasn’t disappointed. With Automatron DLC you can also build your own robots, and go far as building your own kickass Sentry Bot. With the improved crafting looting and exploration became more important and rewarding. Junk rarity was also in great balance, I often found myself missing needed materials which then motivated me go out to explore the wasteland. With the new crafting system also came the settlement mode, which allowed players to create their own towns and settlements. To me the vanilla settlement mode was dull in many ways. Either way the settlement mode can a lot of fun with mods, allowing you to actually craft something genuine and incredible. The leveling and perk system was also redesigned. While there was nothing wrong with the previous system, the new system was a welcome change.

Atmosphere

With the improvement to the weather system and technical features, the gameworld became more immersive and atmospheric. In general the atmosphere in Fallout 4 is more subtle than in previous entries. Commonwealth felt much brighter and hopeful than the desolate Capital Wasteland or Mojave Desert. This is likely due to the more vibrant weathers. To improve immersion, Bethesda did a nice job of reducing the amount of loading screens. Abandoned towns now could be explored without having to struggle through the 5 second loading screen every now and then. Animations weren’t really mind blowing, but they certainly were better than in the previous games.

Visuals and Audio

I remember when the first reveal trailer was shown, many were critizising its graphics. In reality, to me at least the graphics look great. As I mentioned before, I upgraded my system, so I was able to enjoy Fallout 4 at full ultra-settings. Bethesda did a great job by making a much more vibrant weather system. Weather ranging from clear blue skies to the toxic radiation storms. Usage of shadows is bit weak though, as many of the gameworlds lights do not cast shadows. Also kudos to Nvidia for the implementation of volumetric light shafts, HBAO+ and Flex powered debris effect.
Not much can be said about the audio except its good. Usage of ambient sounds was improved, gunshots sounded nice and beefy and generally the SFXs are great. Only complaint I have about the audio, is the poor usage of reverb. The new Creation engine has reverb parameters and profiles, yet Bethesda didn’t seem to take the advantage of it.

DLCs

Won’t say much about the DLCs except that Season Pass for 30€ was definitely worth it. Far Harbor, Nuka World and Automatron alone were worth 30€. The workshop DLCs were nice additions.

Cons and Pros

+ Absolutely amazing art design and direction. Hands down the best one in the series.
+ A highly detailed and immersive gameworld
+ Fantastic crafting system
+ Improved and faster paced combat
+ Voiced protagonist
+ Wonderful soundtrack by Inon Zur
+ Hours upon hours of addictive gameplay.

- Weakened RPG elements.
- Settlement building is far too clunky in vanilla which completely limits your creativity.
- The vanilla Diamond City Radio got repetitive real quick. With only total of 37 songs from which 12 were recycled from Fallout 3.
- Visual quality and performance ratio is quite bad.

Final Verdict

While Fallout 4 did sacrifice some of its predecessors RPG elements, it still turned out to be one of the best open-world shooter that I’ve played. Fallout did change for better or worse, but as for me, it’s still
an Fallout game.

I quess i could say that Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is the best RPG game to date. Unlike many other open-world RPGs, Witcher 3 features an compeling story, immersive gameplay and the some of the greatest game characters.

+ Excellent and tactical gameplay. The kinda gameplay which rewards caution and preparation.
+ Great story for an open-world game
+ You cant find better characters from any other open-world game.
+ The soundtrack OMG
+ Absolutely stunning visuals even on lower settings. I envy those who can play this on 4K and 60FPS
+ Lots of player freedom, from exploration to dialogue choices.
+ Free DLCs

- In some cutscene, the audio sounds a bit rushed.

Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is the new king of RPG games and its an game that other devolpers should look up to, especially Bethesda.
If you like fantasy RPGs them go get this game FAST, you'll wont regret it.

Dead Space 1 and 2

Where to start. That they both are excellent survival horror games, that both are filled with immersion and that they both have great narrative and story. Those are just few thing Dead Space 1 and 2 have gotten right.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dead Space 1

Dead Space 1 was very atmospheric and i was scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for the first 4 hours of the game.

+ Lots of replay value
+ Doesnt contain many jumpscares, it rather scares you with its tense and horrifying atmosphere
+ Good story with good characters (nuff said)

- Some annoying "puzzles" in the last few chapters

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2 had a great narrative and plot. Gameplay was only improved, cool new enemies were added and Isaac was back, better than ever.

+ Gameplay was slightly more action packed but i had its scary moments aswell. A great balance between them to be correct
+ DS2 is full of thrilling and intense moments.
+ The narrative was better this time and Isaac voiced made him instantly more likable.

- I experienced some annoying bugs (weapons disapearing, infinite loading screen)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something both games have in common

+ Superior sound design (necromorphs sound so damn scary)
+ Excellent survival gameplay
+ Graphics looked fairly good even today when using ReShade graphical mod
+ So much replay value

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Verdict

If you like scary games, if you like survival horror, if you like atmosphere and if you want a good plot from a game.

Go grab youself a Dead Space 1 and 2

Dead Space 1 - ( 9.4 )

Dead Space 2 - ( 9.7 )

Bioshock Infinite:

I do believe that this game deserves an in depth review from me. I consider Bioshock Infinite to be the greatest video game masterpiece yet made. It has made me view games
in a different perspective. It has showed me that games can be a form of art. Bioshock Infinite succedes in everything that it does. It has taken game storytelling to the next level,
it has renewed bioshocks gameplay and improved it and it has once again made the most facinating game world and setting. When all of it is mixed together it obviously makes an perfect game.

Story
This is where Bioshock Infinite truly shines, the story. You are Booker DeWitt (VA Troy Baker), a private investigator and a war veteran with a debt to settle.
To clear the debt you must rescue Elizabeth (VA Courtnee Draper), a mysterious girl imprisoned for her whole life in the sky city of Columbia. Simple as that, guess again.
I was a lot of fun following the story especially Elizabeth on your side. She is the emotional center of the game and she is easily the most functional and best game follower ever made.
It is incredible how the character change throughout the game. How Elizabeth changes in the game is probably the saddest thing in this game. It might seem like simple and
relatively happy game, but trust me closer you get to the end, darker the story gets. Thing that amazed me is how Bioshock Infinite goes from a simple job to the
unbelievable ending that none of us saw coming.
This is truly the most unforgettable and intense game story ever made

Game World and Atmosphere
"What is Columbia if not a another ark in a different time".Bioshocks are known for their unique game worlds and Bioshock Infinite delivers it yet again. Now it takes place in the sky city
of Columbia and the year is 1912. Columbia is easily one the most beatiful and well made game worlds out there. During the first 20 minutes it feels ridiculous but yet amazing.
After some time, your start to see how well is this city made, the rasist, xenophobic and the religious people makes the city feel so natural and alive. During the gameplay you will truly feel
that you are in a early 20th century utopia built into the sky.

http://v1.steam.hlxgame.cc/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=135697019

Gameplay
Bioshock Infinite has largely improved the gameplay over bioshock 1 and 2. Guns are awesome and vigors (aka plasmids) are powerful. Combat is now more diverse, you can move rapidly through the battlefield with new sky-rail
system. Guns in bioshock infinite are much more accurate and effective. Using then are much more fun then in bioshock 1 and 2 but this time you can only carry 2 weapons. Its both a good thing and a bad thing.
Probably the best new thing in the gameplay is Elizabeth, She'll throw ammo, med kits and salts just the right time. She will even revive you if die and find you money when
you most need it. Another thing that Elizabeth can do is, bring you cover, turrets (etc) with her tears. A Tear is a rip in dimensional time and space, revealing an alternate universe.
Elizabeth isnt just a helping hand during fight. When you are out of combat she can lockpick doors and she is also a talented codebreaker. You will mainly be looting money,
gears and infusions from the city. In a nutshell gameplay is fast and brutal but most of all, fun.

Soundtrack and Audio
Like my pal Mr. Anderson once said "One of the best soundtracks ever".Bioshock Infinite has excellent musics and audio FXs. Music of Bioshock Infinite is driven by small string quartet style that feels lighter
and brighter as you explore sunny environments. Quickly turning dark and menacing when things go wrong. Game also contains old timey covers of pop songs found here and there, such as, tainted love and fortunate
son in a 1912 version. The sound effect sound absolutely mesmerizing. An firemen exploding his fuel tank, the ambient sounds of columbia or the punching sound of a shotgun. These are just great examples of amazing
sound effects which are heard throughout the game. Only soundtrack and audio design equal to Bioshock Infinite is The Last of Us.

http://v1.steam.hlxgame.cc/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=135697091

Graphics
Graphics in Bioshock Infinite are stunning and extremely well optimized as well. Bioshock Infinite uses Unreal Engine 3 which explains the good visual quality and performance. Weapon and character models are extremely well textured,
the lighting changes throughout the game and is most likely handcrafted.

Verdict

Bioshock Infinite is truly an masterpiece and its a game you shouldnt miss. Even though it only lasts about 13 hours,(about 19h with DLCs)its an very high quality over quantity. If you are looking for game with good plot, atmosphere, gameplay and
graphics, then Bioshock Infinite is definitely a game for you.

Final verdict:

The most unforgetable game experience EVER!

Dishonored is definitely one of the best stealth games out there and i do believe that many gamers agree with me. Its amazing how Dishonored gives you a chance to explore the game area, to complete a mission in multiple ways and making gameplay feel so rewarding.

+ Greatest thing in Dishonored is how it gives you so many choices.
+ Rewarding gameplay
+ Dishonored has a good 27 hours game length with all DLCs
+ Graphics do not rely on ultra high res textures but it rather relies on beautiful lighting
+ This is a small thing but i find the game soundtrack to be really fitting

- Story was kinda lame and it never immersed me

Simply an awesome stealth game and the best way to describe Dishonored is Bioshock with sneaking.
