Here's the short of it: It's alright.

The Longer Version:

Once you get the hang of it, you'll notice that play is almost entirely around sniping and automatic rifles. Not to say there aren't builds higher level that don't make good use of the shotguns, SMG's (Ppsh is radical), and LMG's, but, that's just what I see dominating right now as far as gameplay balance goes.

Not sure if it was because it is a beta, but the abilities/perks as well as equipment you got felt pretty limited. I'm sure there will be more in the full release, but, as is, leveling your class (division) past Lv2 is already a huge time sink and there's not enough interesting bits that I feel would keep me engaged or driven to get. A lot of the Division abilities also seem...not so good.

Game looks good, though, I also wasn't able to get it to full settings. As is, the game was a headache to even start up properly, and I had to fiddle with my Nvidia stuff to stop it from being a stop-motion film. That being said, I'd say the maps are downright bad. Most maps shown so far are very close-quarters. One map is a few city blocks, but, unfortunately, a lot of the city is blocked off with wreckage, etc. Felt like a terrible waste, and was disappointing, especially after being spoiled by WW2 shooters like Red Orchestra which has gigantic maps. But I suppose that's more of a Battlefield thing, these days, than Call of Duty.

Game modes are...okay. The two objective holding modes were the worst and just felt unfun. Team Deathmatch, as always, is a safe and fun bet, but it's also the obvious idiot magnet which most people stick to, so, you get people running into walls or doing crazy against you. The funniest part of my experience with this whole thing was the War game mode. It's obviously a knock off of Battlefield One's similar mode where you and your team have to perform linked objectives on a battlefield to win, and then you get a turn on the opposite side to pretty much see which team does it better. This mode, honestly, sucks. Again, I know it's a beta, but this is definitely not what you want to showcase. Nothing about it 'wows' you. Very bland and an obvious grab at what they saw Battlefield do relatively successfully....and I honestly didn't care much for Battlefield One.

Overall, it's definitely feeling like a 6/10. It just seems very mediocre, which, again, is very disappointing as I was very much looking forward to the series coming back to its roots. I'm not saying I'll never get it, but, I'll be probably skipping on picking it up on day one, which I had actually planned to up until tonight. At the very least, I hope the campaign(s) will be good, as I usually enjoy them in the Call of Duty series, even though I know the main draw is multiplayer. Unfortunately, I simply feel it will pale in comparison to CoD's last venture into WW2, World at War in the single player department, just as it already feel as it pales in comparison to older titles like Modern Warfare 2 in the multiplayer department.

Ppsh for life.

For a really chill and fun game, grab VA-11 Hall-A (Or Valhalla), on Steam. It's also for Vita, but, since I'm the only one who bought a Vita I won't bother suggesting it for that...

Anyway, from the get go, the game tells you to dim the lights, grab some snacks, a couple drinks, and get comfy and sure enough, there are not many games, if any, that can boast the sort of sensation the game presents.

It's simple, and there's never any real time limits or actual instant fail states (You still have to pay bills...), but coupled with a wonderful aesthetic, entertaining characters, fun (read: raunchy, if you're into that) humor, and a wonderful synth-pop soundtrack, there's really nothing else that comes to mind that is quite like it. The world building the game constructs around itself as you play on is also fantastic, and it hits all the notes that something boasting a 'cyberpunk' feel should. The game has an option for scan-lines, for God's sakes!

In the end, I highly recommend Valhalla, even if you're not one who usually goes for what is essentially a visual novel. I've yet to meet someone who I've shown the game firsthand to that didn't seem interested and/or amused by it's Cyberpunk Bartending Action charms. I only dislike how short it is and how little is left unanswered, though, from what I can tell, there are secret paths and encounters to be had in the story, as well. I completely regret that it took me nearly three years to finally play it.

Doom(2016) is fun enough and rewards you for playing really aggressively, but, as I've expressed to a few others already, every time you get hit feels like a cheap shot as while the magic of strafing will carry you far, usually, you're just not quite mobile enough, I feel.

The final boss is also laughably easy compared to the mid-boss, and some weapons just feel useless or will sit on the sidelines compared to others. Same goes for some weapon mods. Some mods are just plain better than others.

Still, probably the best shooter I've played in a good, long while. Ending sets itself up for a sequel, which leaves it sort of lackluster.
