In a short and sweet nutshell: Yes, that's what it is.
Don't worry, I got banned from the chat just because of my profile picture.

I actually got banned from the 4chan group because of my post, despite not making anymore, or doing anything against the rules. My simple question got be banned; and the ban reason is "For being a massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥." - 4chan, must really be full of some sad people who don't know how to handle life.

It attracts the worst of us and the worst of people, some only act like this on the internet, others might take it a step further and bring this behavior with them. I can at least speak for myself, that the Internet isn't a place where things are meant to be taken literally, we keep this idea when on the internet and with things like "safe spaces" and "cyber bullying" being on the trend everywhere else, we keep this idea at heart. So we say things like "Kill yourself", "You've gave me cancer", or spam racial slurs to keep it alive a reminder that nothing should be taken seriously and people like me are OK with saying things like that because what we do on the boards and what we do in real life have no real connection.

As for humor, I just like to keep it real and 100%. I say the truth jokingly whether or not it will hurt others or not, because that’s just reality.

I don't understand. Even in a world, or a website, where you can be anonymous without much of any punishment, why would anyone want to do it in the first place? The answer of everything being anonymous has been answered; that's a given. But my question is why do it in general? It makes me shaken up to think about how stubborn people on 4chan and or /b/ are. No matter what you say, you can't seem to morph them- which in itself is scary, as these people are so okay with the idea of leading another person into suicide, tormenting who they see as happy and weak in hopes those people will catch fire and burn into dust. How is it funny? How is it okay to do that?

WHY would a human being, be okay with tormenting/destroying another person?
