It's an XCOM-like gacha game with good waifus, great story, good music, and fair F2P mechanics. What more could you want?

Ignore the mixed review, that was for the base game when it came out, wasn't very good and was pretty buggy. Now it is much better and the mega-campaign is there. GAME GOOD

This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rules. Nothing else comes close to the sense of persistence and scale in an MMO war. Highly suggest.


EDIT: I am currently changing my review to negative due to the poor response from devs to address current issues plaguing the game. This is not just a holiday thing, it's been a problem for a while. Alts are rampant during sales and just now both sides are getting griefed to hell from people who buy copies just to troll, there is very little defense against this other than no-lifing and being on 24/7 to watch your ♥♥♥♥.

Balance is a nightmare, the most recent update was shoved out the door despite feedback saying it's not ready and to fix balance issues before releasing.

Logistics is a pain and needs to be addressed as well. I really do enjoy this game for the most part and want it to succeed, but we're running out of options here. Please listen, devs. Give us a better way to reserve structures so that they can't be griefed and please take a long look at the tech system. I will change this review back to positive if and when these issues are addressed satisfactorily.

DOUBLE EDIT:
After a lengthy logistics strike, and a notable improvement in dev interaction with the community, some changes are finally coming to improve logistics and anti-griefing measures, so I am changing my review back to positive. This game still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rules and you should get it.

TRIPLE EDIT:
Things got worse again after 1.0. Devs basically do not listen or communicate AT ALL in a persistent mmo game. Griefers and alt accounts are rampant, exploits are not punished or fixed, bugs are left in the game for an entire war that are extremely debilitating for one or both sides. Cheating is increasing because nothing is done about it. The game itself is cool and a really unique idea but until the devs actually engage, listen, and fix things do NOT buy it. Don't buy their new game, Anvil, either.

QUADRUPLE EDIT:
Devs have improved significantly in regards to communication and QoL updates. Changing review back to positive. Game good again!

QUINTUPLE EDIT:
Airborne update was mostly great, but introduced even more glaring balance issues. This is less of an issue than the rampant hacking going on for both sides. Teleporting players with unlimited grenades nuking tanks, duplicating techmats for free resulting in a huge technology jump, duping rare material for free planes, nighthacking, etc. It's starting to ruin the game. I will revise my review again if they fix this.

My absolute personal favorite grand strategy game. A perfect blend of classic Paradox grand strategy and 4X elements, with plenty of charm and good writing, along with constant updates and tweaks to keep things fresh.
