Captive of the Golden Radiance
Zhao Lee was one of the most vibrant inhabitants of the Kirin Grove. Unlike her fellow ponies, who transformed into furious Niriks when angry, Zhao Lee possessed an abnormally high level of inner magic. Her fire was so hot that it threatened to burn the entire village with the slightest outburst of emotion.
To save the village and Zhao Lee herself from self-destruction, the elders (or, according to one version, a mysterious wanderer from distant lands) placed the Seal of the Serene Flame on her—that same golden mark.
The essence of the mark in the MLP universe
In the pony world, this mark functions not as a succubus curse, but as a magical artifact of forced harmony:
* Nirik Calming: The mark blocks Zhao Lee's ability to transform into Nirik. As soon as she becomes angry, the seal on her stomach flares, replacing her rage with a wave of artificial euphoria and submission.
* "Excess" Collection: The Kirin's excess magical energy is not dissipated, but accumulated in the mark. Zhao Lee becomes a living battery. To "discharge," she requires tactile contact with other beings, through which she transfers the excess warmth and magic.
* Symbol of Service: Over time, Zhao Lee discovered that the mark makes her dependent on the attention of others. Without regular "energy exchange," she begins to weaken, forcing her to be as sociable and helpful as possible, even if this goes against her true desires.
Life in Equestria
The image shows Zhao Lee at the moment when the seal's magic reached its peak (a golden glow around her stomach). The leather strap on her leg is her personal form of grounding, inscribed with runes that help her maintain her sanity when the mark begins to dictate its terms.
She can no longer return to the quiet Grove, as her nature is now inextricably linked to this magical seal. Zhao Lee travels Equestria, seeking those who can accept her "hot" gift without fear of being burned by her magical addiction.

Zhao Lee arrives in the Crystal Empire. Her golden skin and unusual horn immediately attract attention, but it's the pulsating mark that alerts the guards—this magic is unlike any other pony's insignia.
Meeting at the Crystal Palace
Princess Cadance, an expert in the magic of love and family bonds, immediately senses a strange resonance. She invites Zhao Lee to a private audience.
* Cadance's Diagnostics: The Princess brings her hoof to the mark, and it glows a soft pink mixed with aggressive gold. Cadance realizes that this is not just a tattoo, but a magical parasite that feeds on the wearer's emotions and transforms them into pure passion.
* Zhao Lee Reaction: Under the gaze of the Princess of Love, the seal activates at full power. Zhao Lee feels her will melt away. Instead of bowing, she involuntarily begins to act defiantly, her eyes clouding over, and the leather strap on her leg taut with internal heat.
* Verdict: Cadance is both horrified and delighted. She realizes that Zhao Lee is a "walking artifact." While ordinary ponies share love voluntarily, Zhao Lee must do so, otherwise her inner Nirik energy will simply explode.
New Assignment
Instead of banishing the kirin, Cadance offers her a deal. Zhao Lee will remain in the palace as an "Emotional Lightning Rod."
1. Duty: During major celebrations, when the crowd's emotions run high, Zhao Lee walks through the ponies, absorbing the excess excitement and joy with her mark. 2. Control: The strap on her hip is replaced with a crystal bracelet enchanted by Shining Armor, which helps her maintain her sanity when the mark demands "feeding."
3. Training: Twilight Sparkle (who has come to visit) is thrilled at the opportunity to study the "ancient seal of submission" and constantly follows Zhao Lee around with a notebook, recording how her body temperature changes when stallions or fillies approach.

Zhao Lee is now the most enigmatic figure in the empire. Ponies whisper that her gaze alone can make their hearts beat faster, but no one knows the price she pays when the lights in the palace go out and the mark begins to demand its share of magic.

The development of a magical device for Zhao Lee became a joint project between the Crystal Empire and Canterlot. To prevent the "Seal of the Serene Flame" from consuming the Kirin's personality, Shining Armor and Twilight Sparkle created the Crystal Restraint Stabilizer.
Here's what this mechanism consists of and how it works:
1. Base: Crystal Bracelet (Girdle)
The same strap on Zhao Lee thigh was replaced with a circlet of dark crystal mined from the depths of the northern mountains.
* Material: Crystal has the property of "sponging" excess magic.
* Function: It constantly siphons "background" heat from the mark, preventing Zhao Lee from spontaneously combusting or entering a trance.
2. Resonance Runes
The inside of the bracelet is inscribed with microscopic runes associated with the Element of Generous Love (Cadence's specialty).
* Synchronization: When the mark on her lower abdomen begins to pulse golden, the runes on her hip respond with a cold blue glow.
* Effect: This creates a "magical counterbalance." If the mark whispers to Zhao Lee, "Submit, give up all your energy," the bracelet sends a sobering impulse: "You are in control."
3. Fullness Indicator (Accumulator Gem)
A faceted diamond is fixed in the center of the bracelet.
* Color Scale:
* Transparent: Zhao Lee is safe, her magic is normal.
* Pink: It's time to share energy (light flirtation or contact).
* Bright scarlet: Critical condition. If Zhao Lee does not "discharge" the mark soon, the bracelet will forcibly put her to sleep to prevent a mana explosion.
4. "Guardian Connection" System
The bracelet is magically attuned to an artifact in Princess Cadance's chambers.
* If Zhao Lee loses control and transforms into Nirik (technically impossible with the seal, but theoretically dangerous), Cadence will know instantly.
* Through this channel, the Princess can remotely transmit a feeling of calm and tranquility to Zhao Lee.

What does this look like in action?
As Zhao Lee walks through the palace corridors, a soft ringing sound can be heard—the bracelet's crystals rubbing against each other. If one of the guard stallions gets too close, the mark on her belly begins to glow through the fabric, and the bracelet on her leg turns icy, causing Zhao Lee to shudder slightly. This is the eternal struggle between the fiery temptation of the seal and the icy order of the Crystal Empire.
